Windows XP AC97 Sound Effect Manager

On Windows XP (and maybe earlier versions, I don’t know) there is a voice cancellation/karaoke function on the sound effect manager (located in the control panel) and on some songs it’s really good at eliminating vocals and getting good instrumentals. I was wondering if anyone knew how to invert this function as I would guess that if you could keep whatever it was eliminating you could get some pretty good acapellas. There isn’t a direct way to do it so you might be able to do it by manipulating the function somehow but I don’t know how to do that. Any help is appreciated.
