DJ_Patron(A-zona)ParticipantHey This is just a question. I really love reggaeton, I havnt seen any reggaeton mixes posted. I would like to see a new Genre open up for Reggaeton. How many of you like this genre????? I would vote for it if there was a poll.

ChooParticipantGood question, lol maybe it’s not vast enough in the UK or it’s fan volume here is not enough.

2GSParticipantThe reggaeton mixes we’ve seen on the site tend to end up in the ragga, hip-hop, or commercial pop sections.
I agree with Choo, that with more fan interest, perhaps it can get a genre representation along with its dancehall and reggae parents. If this post builds up momentum, maybe it can do it.

I luv that quote from Winston s Esq,it,s a classic. yo i,m in central islip Long Island, New York where all u here is reggatone,i recently upgraded my car system to 3000 watts of pure power, not max power where everything is distorted and the speakers are ready to blow,I mean clean power output, just to play my reggaeton collection & rggtn refixxes..oh yeah by the way i,m a 41 yr old non spanish understanding black man who still listens to my early 80,s hip hop live show collection,Flash,Mo Dee,BamBaata,Jazzy J,CC 4,Fan 5,Ect..I,m trying to find the best site to upload my stuff,I see myspace is popular but is that the best place for guuys like me who do this for a hobby.i,m up on reggaeton, but i will say this, it better start evolving quick cause the rhythms can get stale real qwik.

ChooParticipantGo New Yorkers! Lol.
DJSTYLEEE wrote:ive neva even heard of it wot kind style of music is it mate? It’s a Spanish typed music, where the music tempo is usually extremely fast and people just go into dancing mode for hours. It’s up an ante from Reggae. "Reggae-TON" A ton of reggae makes reggaeton.

KaminotaParticipantI’m not gonna waste time reading the post on Reggaeton. It might upset me. I was deep in to until it became main stream in the USA and then I started to notice that everybody who was producing beat…….. all was jocking each other ….that really played the genre out … no one was trying to experiment at all………… they all have the same formula……. In Puerto Rico Reggaeton won’t die but out side …it can …. So me I stop producing Reggaeton and when to Rap and R&B…… I found it hard till this day to even do a Reggaeton Beat cause no I don’t feel it … but I’m looking for a way to switch it up so …it won’t die …. I’m Dominican and we all know Dominicans …Luny Tunes help bring the Reggaeton to the light of the States ……I grew up on it …when it was hard core and shit … so I’ll never lose love for it …it’s just hard to digest now and days……………… but I got a ton of Acapellas if ya’ll want …if you know spanish you can’t get alot of things you want. I’m assuming I’m the only Hispanic in the forum …. but sue … holla me yall

ChunkyEatsMyDinnerParticipantI love the idea of a Reggaeton/ dancehall/ reggae forum.
Irrelevant of my taste in music, each to their own.
In the UK its very rare, only really getting played at Salsa nights hosted by clubs on quiet nights like Wednesdays or Mondays.I actually really like it and it gets good reactions in the Middle East (Bahrain at least)
I have yet to chance it to a commercial UK dancefloor tho. While on the subject of forum genres, whats with Garage and Drum n bass being labelled together?
Am I missing something???
The only similarity I can see between these 2 is they both are likely to have drum sounds!AdSense 336x280May 26, 2008 at 7:57 pm #650143
mr crisParticipantcall me out of touch, but can someone point me in the right direction as to what Reggaeton is. I love reggae, but I’ve never heard of this music in the UK

BIG D OParticipantRaggaeton just isn’t that appealing to american latinos man…..unless your a chick that goes clubbing all the time…..nah, I’ll stick to actual raggae and dancehall music….

Mic-DuNyceParticipantReggeaton was like a quick trend…in and out…maybe if those reggeaton guys could stop using that same old drum pattern and change the "theme"(so to say) of there stuff than maybe they’ll win over some more hip-hop and pop fans..

AdSense 336x280March 27, 2014 at 3:34 am #702307
coldwar RBParticipantI like it personally because of its fast pace and also because they are generally more up beat than normal hip hop. Oh and there is the fact that you can’t tell what they are saying so you can’t tell if it is actually really crappy lyrics or not as long as it sounds good and I does so yes I listen to it.
