InjektParticipant[size size=150:1w10ni7b]Any opinions on this genre? It’s been around for over a decade, but somehow now it’s become really popular among all of the kids.[/size:1w10ni7b]
In my opinion, about half of it is really lame, annoying, and repetitive. The other half is okay, and about half of that is really good. The actual beat has a really good flow to me, with the nice crisp 808s and hat rolls in hip-hop timing, but you can ruin that if it’s poorly produced, cheesy, or does that annoying repetitive one note thing that big room does. Or if it takes a small vocal loop and plays it over and over again in a pattern after the drop. That is annoying as hell to me. But if you make nice sounding synths and arrange everything really well then you have good trap music.
The experimental/chill stuff is the best. The vibes you get off of that, a mix of synthetic ambience, a feeling of calm as the emotion that is interwoven with the music speaks to the listener, and sometimes those old school funk vibes overlaid on top of an 808-infused breakbeat. That is unbeatable to me. Hands down. And it is nothing like that vocal looped or one note crap that makes me want to kill myself whenever I hear it. Hell, it’s even much better than the really well-made mainline stuff, which I enjoy.
TL;DR, IMHO you cannot call trap music as a whole bad because a lot of it is awful. That’s like saying that all house music is bad because Martin Garrix.

coldwar RBParticipantI am a fan of trap music. I like it because of its drums and percussions and how that is the main base of the song and the rest of the song kind of revolves around the beat. It does get boring sometimes when people get repetitive butadiene long as people stay innovative with their beats and choruses. Something I enjoy doing when listening to trap music is separating out all the different sounds to see how many different sounds are happening at the same time. I’ve actually been trying my hand at trap music but I’d definitely consider my skill level as novice..

NikoEra19Participantapparently i found out their is a sub genre now branched from TRAP music. but im my sence i down like it very much. i love hip hop but trap music has no personality. all bass, too much snare and hi hat rolls, only one simple boring melody, and the hooks are crap. but i guess theres a genre of music for every city, town and person.

Tymo024ParticipantWhen the big room sound came up other genres started to adopt that sound. So did trap. I liked it at first but it started to become too repetitive.
Now it’s entertaining for a track or two. As frequent listener of trap i like the experimental stuff more, artists like pomo, lido or stwo.
Many more artists are out there that are authentic and genuine. It’s just that the mainstream is mostly the (fun fair) big room sounds.AdSense 336x280March 26, 2015 at 12:18 am #704191
ZwheresParticipantI like it. Great to listen to.
