The CutterParticipantMy drum of choice is my late 1970’s Ludwig Rocker drum set.
Have a nice day,
Mr. C.

onblurParticipantI used a sample library called Drums On Demand for along time, and loved how easy it was to use in Cubase – the loops were REX based (wav also, but not so versatile when the tempos didn’t match). I made some great tracks with DOD. I’m now using Toontrack’s EZ Drummer with PT7 – great at getting things going quickly. Easy to edit. Great sounds and the mixer is great. I also tried BFD, the lite version that comes with Pro Tools, but it never worked properly for me – seemed that the mapping was screwed up. Editing midi for drums is a pet hate of mine, so I ditched it pretty quick when that issue came up. Right now, EZ Drummer suits me down to the ground, and is relatively inexpensive for the sheer depth of the application. YMMV. Oh, before I forget, the only thing I don’t like about EZD is you have to add in you own cymbol tracks – all manner of rhythms, fills, etc are provided but you need to sequence in your own cymbol crashes, rides etc.

TIREXParticipantI tend to use Stylus Rmx & Reasons Dr Rex & Red Rum also i still chop breaks & samples etc up in Recycle & then throw them in kontact. I will say one thing its a hell of a lot easier than in the days i used to chop breaks & stuff in my old Akai s3000,We dont seem to appreciate how much easier we got it now

reagansmistressParticipantI like using layerd chorus of drum sounds and synthesized noise… but most def a few good 909 and 808 kick drum samples.

pkParticipantIm using Battery 3, very flexible and easy to use.

drumixParticipantGuru has some nice options but the user interface is a bit awkward. Redrum into Reason (rewired) works well for me…

thesparrowbandParticipantImpulse, but its awkward to use because once you drag in a sound to a cell, you can’t move it to another, and sometimes it finishes teh sample with a clipping noise, highly annoying, the sample has to be changed to stop it. but it was free with live.

subGENREParticipantfor software, lately ive been using Stylus RMX, but i still like to use Linplug RM IV when im pounding out my beats on the keys. But I definitely do alot more kit hit drawing (ctrl-c ctrl-v) than midi, allows me to get more intimate, with the beats and envelopes.
as far as kits go, i like to keep it fresh, im all over the place, different sounds/layers in each project (trance/breaks/DnB)

Michael Paul BanksParticipantI usually use just individual samples, but after reading this topic, I may just have to find the "battery" program. Thanks for the info =D

markdiorParticipanti use battery two at the moment, may possibly upgrade to battery 3 – although version two is meeting all of my needs for the time being
