Sounds very unlikely to me, unless what they’re actually doing is providing an acapella CD & Instrumental CD along with the final CD.

But a doub’t that’s gonna happen, if it does then CD prices will shoot up!

Artful doger has done together with Graig David a song which allows to appear oddly enough in a music program with karaoke function really the Acapellaversion. The hammer there, actually, the voices should disappear. The title is called Re wind

most popular and underground musicians create "Singles,"
which are promotional CDs given sometimes only to radio stations and DJs.
these singles often provide the original song they want to be a hit,
a radio edit, remix(es), instrumental version, and/or a capella.

they are sometimes available at common music stores,
sometimes months before the final album is released.
and even more often at professional dj stores online.

I think you can save any version you want (maybe even in .wav format). Therefore, you can turn off everything but the vocals and save acapella version as well.
