DjNocturnalParticipantvinyl sucks to lug around, but in my opinion is easier to work with, plus you can mark your records, you can’t do that on cd’s

resetParticipantI’m all about the vinyl myself, but I’m old school. I know that they are making some cool cd players that emulate the feel of old the black wax spinners, but it just does’t feel the same, and I understand that the scratching is a little tough cuz they havn’t not got the timing just right yet. eventuall I will probably move over to cd/mp3 format cuz I like the aspect of being able to play my own versions of songs without spending a small fortune on pressing a hundred vinyls.

anarkieParticipanti press my records on vinyl so id have to say vinyl but cds r better and cheaper then cutting dubplates and u could fit more on and they would last longer so for me its vinyl but a few cds r kool

DJ Loyal TParticipantFor one they are not so heavy when you go from club to club. You can do everything with cds now that you can do with vinyle and more.

acheadKeymasterMP3, traktor just makes it quite easy, so you can pay more attention to the audiance or to create a more creative mix.

dj apocalypseParticipantAs a club and mixtape dj, and producer…I prefer vinyl because it is what I am most familiar with. I have been djing since 1989 and frankly, I couldn’t mix a whole set with CDs to save my life. LOL A few of my peers have went strictly CD and or MP3 and its currently the best way to get the newest music if you are not fortunate enough to be serviced by local A&Rs and or labels. I am seriously considering adding a CD player or two to my set up just so I can add the very newest music to my sets. If you speak to mixshow coordinatiors and djs nowadays, quite a few will admit that they frequently use downloaded music in their sets, and if they don’t they are lying. It’s convenient not to have to carry around mad crates of records, but I consider it a labor of love.

AngeloParticipantit`s the feeling with the vinyl and the big covers.

SPiNTECHParticipantI consider myself old school! Vinyl is my choice for the true DJ – but I also embrace new technology, because it’s there – so I press my stuff all back to vinyl… I guess I’m a modern dinasaur…

resetParticipantI am gong through some changes. I recently voted for vinyls, and they will always hold a special place in my heart, but I recently found a program and hardware that actually plugs into your pc, and into your existing turntable. you then put a special “record” on the platter and you can manipulate any digital sound exactly as if it were vinyl! I havn’t picked it up yet, but i tried it, and was highly impressed! mp3’s are a lot more user freindly as far as cut/paste, editing physical size etc. and now since you dont have to lose the true vinyl experience to use them…I am nearly converted 100% to mp3/cd

wilde-ukParticipantmy opinion is to use both – specially if you can get hold of some pioneer 1000’s – then it’s at your fingertips with all media…
