robdenlouParticipantHeres an excellent review of Asus’ new sound card, it gives Creative a good run for their money.

7thangelParticipantyour best choices but still remaining relatively inexpensive are from either m-audio, presonus or e-mu. keep in mind, they have better more expensive models and the companies that can be added to the list increases by at least 5-6 more names.
they all have very good sound cards, pci, usb, and firewire, that can be bought from 100-$250. solid drivers, made for audio with asio and in some minimal latency issues. they usually come with software (not sure if m-audio still does)
check their sites for details

CDAParticipantI’ve always used creative. Although I’ve just started to use my Virus TI as my soundcard as well when producing from my laptop.

CrackatowaParticipantI’m pretty happy using the M-Audio Audiophile 2496. It’s got a good onboard mixer and hooks up everything i need it to. However for some reason my sound sometimes cuts out and audio programs refuse to play songs. Probably and issue about my computer not the card.

disconiscoParticipantfirst of all it depends on how serious u r with music prod. and if ur planning on making money or just for kicks…
for someone thats just starting i would recomend m-audio, they make excellent value for money sound cards that gives you pretty decent sound…creative sound cards are made for music reproduction not for production and even though u can still make pretty good music it will never sound the way u want it to sound…so my advice would be go for m-audio fast track series as it it pretty decent for music production an dj-ing….hope this helpsAdSense 336x280January 2, 2010 at 9:04 am #675716
ASMAParticipantM-audio audiophile series is a good soundcard for home studios

thomas.rParticipantIf you have free slots on your computer you can use audiophile.
If not – you can use one of M-Audio’s USBinterfaces:
http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=pro … interfacesIf you can afford it – I recommend the Fast Track Ultra that has an internal DSP with very low latency.
If not – you can get the basic version – Fast Track which have basic interface of 2in/2out with phantom power and an XLR connection with volume controls.I am using the Fast Track and satisfied with it.

MAXMILLIONAIREParticipantas far as sound cards go everyone has their own personal favorite, mines happens to be M-Audio Audiophile 2496, I haven’t had any problems with it, been using it for almost 3 years now.
