TulaneMixerParticipantI am into creating mashups, and I would like to upgrade my technology. Previously, I have mixed using Garage Band and Audacity. Not the most functional tools.
However, I saw a deal online for Logic Express 8 under $40.00. Does anyone else use this software? I don’t have the money for the new version of Logic Studio.
Here’s what I primarily need:
1. A nice user interface. It would be great if I can lay out multiple tracks in a visually appealing way like Garage Band.
2. Easily change tempos. I’d love it if it could check BPM like Virtual DJ, but it doesn’t look like Logic does that. However, if you can shift time easily, that will work.
Obviously there are other concerns, but those are the two big ones.
Can anyone offer me some advice on those topics or any others with Logic 8?

starkie123ParticipantYES!
1) Logic is similar to garage band both visually and in its logic so you’ll easily grasp how it works!
2) Changing tempos is easy i’m sure you’ll agree when you get it, I have done many mashups check out my you tube page http://www.youtube.com/764960 I only just switched to Pro so all my tunes on there have been made in Express 8, might give you an idea of the stuff you can do.
My advice is….. get it, itll be the best thang you ever damn did!

theslagParticipantLogic Express is great if you’re looking to make mash-ups, bootlegs and other things.
If you’re looking to actually get into production I’d recommend using Logic Pro 9.
