mrvpParticipantDon’t know if this is quite the right forum to post this in (apologies if it isn’t); I have been mixing with Ableton for a while now (not mixing Live, having fun, producing my own CD’s etc.). What I am really trying to do is get that classic 2 a.m packed house/disco/pop/soul club, hands in the air, clapping, breakdown feel through clever programming (like with some of the Radio 1 Essential Mixes – I have some which are 10 years old but you never tire of certain mixes).
In short I am struggling. I have redited "Once in a Lifetime" for instance mixing it onto itself in a breakdown to create an 8 minute mix, within a house mix, have thrown the odd Michael Jackson or Maddona (80’s) records in with house records (should I add 70’s disco/soul in as well for some flavour?), have thrown acapellas in to create bootlegs on outro’s, while mixing into another intro (didn’t sound quite right but right idea).
Nothing quite matches what I want (4 months ago prior to Ableton I wouldn’t have been this picky). I wondered if anyone had any links to classic late 80’s/early 90’s club playlists just for some inspiration (or suggested CD’s I should listen to)?
Thanks in advance,
