SciKosisParticipantHey guys, kind of a lurker on the forums, hopefully this isn’t against rules, but I don’t think it is…
I’ve tried doing a bit of searching but because the search is a general thing, and I kinda need a pointed answer, I felt I could do well posting a new thread. Pretty much, I was wondering if anyone had any effective way of getting a good DIY out of a Rock track. Specifically, I’m working on an acapella for Fallout Boy’s "My Songs Know…"/"Light em Up" and it’s proving to be mighty difficult. The vocals definitely occupy the majority of the mid and the mid-hi range, but the problem is, so does this random drum in the BG, which honestly I can deal with, because it’s subby enough to get overpowered by the drum kit I have for the remix.
My biggest issue is the guitar though. It seems like it’s occupying the exact same section as the vocals for the most part. I can shut them down slightly, but then it kinda thins out the vocal, but then trying to do a boost AFTER that pretty much brings them right back in. So yeah, just wondering if anyone has any tricks or work arounds to get past annoying guitar frequencies aggressively molesting your vocals.
Thanks!
