13thSeekerParticipantI tried to rip some acapellas from the latest Nightwish album Dark Passion Play with the sample inversion…
I own the Deluxe versionof the album, so i have the instrumentals on the 2nd disc…
but i have problems…
an example: the regular song Amaranth and the instrumental doesn’t match on perfectly, looking to the waveforms they match on the begining of the song but not on the ending, just a little, but enough to make me unable to rip…
i tried adjusting the bpm a little, but i go over even adjusting at the min i can…
so i have 2 questions…
How can the official instrumental of a song not match perfectly on the original one?
and how can i fix that?AdSense 336x280February 3, 2009 at 12:52 am #663561

13thSeekerParticipantYeah you’re right, sorry lol
I take advantage to make another question instead of open a new(maybe useless) topic…
it’s ’bout the rules 9 and 11
you can’t provide instrumentals on here, and that’s ok, it’s acapellas forum lol
but can you suggest where to get them, for an example, linking to a site where you can find the instrumentals? or they mean you can’t do this too?AdSense 336x280February 7, 2009 at 7:38 pm #663674
Dj_KiLLaHParticipantits cause the instrumental is often the unmastered version of the beat and after its mastered and you line it up perfectly, the kicks and claps for example are not in the same position as in the instrumental of the track, they are slided some ms but it is enough to make it impossible making acapellas

anyway…what ’bout the sencond question?
i can’t ask for an istrumental here and that’s ok, but can i ask where to get instrumentals out of here? or i can’t even ask for that?AdSense 336x280February 9, 2009 at 5:39 am #663768
djshadesukParticipantI have a sneaky suspicion some tracks are (where an instrumental will be made available) actually mastered that way on purpose to try and prevent people from doing exactly what you are trying to do.

karl2000ParticipantIf the phase inversion method isn’t working for you, I’d strongly recommend using the Knouckout plug-in method. Knockout is far more forgiving – it’s not too bothered about beats etc being a bang on match (though closer the better!). The final vocal might not be quite as good, but if your instrumental is a close match, then I’d say it’s pretty good!

BobaParticipantone of the things I’ve done with instrumentals that don’t match the song exactly is break them into each verse, the chorus, bridge, etc, and then do each section individually. the smaller sections are easier to line up. Then i use knockout.
