DJ_BradyParticipantInvert the instrumental then paste mix it with the full track. It should work supposedly.

DJ LMA aka DJ LeethalParticipantI’ve heard about this everywhere Brady. What’s up with that? Isn’t it called the knockout system or something? Does that really work? And what program do you have to have to do this procedure?

DJ_BradyParticipantYou can do it with soundforge, and a lot of programs that let you reverse/invert an instrumental. You mix the inverted instru with the original track and it cancels everything out apart from the vocals. Thats what I´ve learned from hear but I´ve never succesfully done it. You have to have the wave lines lined up perfectly and matched so that it cancels out the music. Maybe I think with an inverted acapella also, if you put an acapella over a full track you get the instrumental, I doubt this works but the acapella method does

leeroyparnellParticipantyeah, it’s my opinion that knockout is the way to go, unless you’re working with two .wav’s off a cd single.
d.n.wanna.b. do you have aim? i’d like to discuss some diy techniques with some other knockout users.

leeroyparnellParticipantCool, even though I went thru a lot of trouble to completely remove MSN messenger from my computer, I’ll install it again because I really want to talk to some other knockout users, 2 heads are always better than one.

there are two invert/flips, one through Process and one when you mix both of them together
which ones u supposed to use?AdSense 336x280May 30, 2005 at 2:01 pm #572590

Last step is the most important and requires utmost precision

PatrickCMPParticipantYou have to be very exact in lining up the two versions (the regular version and the instrumental). They must be the same length but also the same quality. It is best to use two wavs.

djshaunParticipantOkay everybody to prove this works,
In sound forge preferably.Download Lil John & Usher – Yeah
Full version and Instrumental VersionOn the Instrumental Version Click
Process> Invert/Flipzoom in real close with the zoom button, Find a spike on the file, preferbly find one that is high and pointy put your cursor on the center of the spike
Click
Edit:> Set Selection> Set the top number to 0
(e.g.. From: 0 To: 4,1243)Then delete the highlited section of the file by pressing delete on your keyboard.
Now do the same with the full version Find that same spike that you did on the instrumental version but DO NOT! Invert/Flip
That one works, That was the first D.I.Y i made. If it does not work for you then you dont have the cd version of both songs or you did not line them up correctly.
