I am trying to turn a classic song, one of the greatest songs of all time into an acapella. The name of the song is "Into the night" by Benny Mardones. I have Adobe Audition (formerly cool edit). I need the vocals from this song. Im not sure what methods were used for recording at that time or if the song I have is capable of modern kind of extractions working. Can any one tell me the best method to turn this full song into an acapella version?
Does using mp3’s at different qualities make much of a difference as well?

So how does this work then? I tried it in audacity but it’s just silence I get when I play it?
Not a big fan of Audition. Wavelab is nice to use for working with vocals
