acheadKeymasterI recently got a macbook pro off craigslist at a great price. I have been using it for under a week and am so thoroughly impressed. I don’t think I will ever buy another pc again. It’s smooth and easy with a brilliant screen and very small. I was just wondering if anybody had any fun things or words of advice for me with this new mac.

ChunkyEatsMyDinnerParticipantIt took me 3 months to realise holding ‘ctrl’ down allowed a ‘right click’!
But then maybe not everyone is as special as meAdSense 336x280October 27, 2007 at 3:21 pm #635981
acheadKeymasterI’m really excited to play with garage band but the guy who i got it from off craigslist forgot the ilife disc at his mom’s house so he is supposed to mail it to me. I have played around with it in the past and was pretty impressed.

Nope. Me too
Not 3 months, though, but still close.
However, I have Parallels, that way I can run Windows in the rare event that I DO need to run an application on it (at this point I just have it to run FL on), and I have found that, unless you have a mouse, there is no right click in Windows! I tried CTRL + click and it didn’t do anything. I’ve tried every possible combination I could think of and still can’t find a right click. It’s def not a major problem, but it’d still be nice to know….?

Thank you very much. It was just annoying ALWAYS having to have the mouse because sometimes I wouldn’t have anywhere to really put it on any hard surface. Appreciate it.

gnxmacParticipantgarage band is a good place to start since it comes with your mac any way. Once you get comfortable using that then move to Logic Pro.
Welcome to the world of mac. Sorry you suffered so long on your pc.

el3ctronicaParticipantThis really doesn’t have much to do with mac itself. But Any previous owners of Spectrasonics Trilogy will get a free upgrade to Trilian just b/c they are an Intel Mac user (something to do with their Trilogy update not working well with Intel Macs). Gotta love free upgrades!

pjburnhillParticipantA good place to hunt free AU’s (AudioUnits, Mac preferred plug-ins) is http://www.kvraudio.com/

bangers&mashParticipantTry Ableton Live 8. My software of choice for making mashups and music.
Outside of music, iSync your phone contacts, and get Chrome as it’s the best browser (I’ve been using macs since the first model)AdSense 336x280December 28, 2010 at 3:09 pm #684539
