I’m looking to move into the Mac world shortly and am thinking about buying the new white MacBook.
However this new model comes without a Firewire port. Can anyone forsee any problems as far as music production is concerned?

Ive got the macbook pro and never even used the firewire port.
Im guessing if your going to be using soundcards with multiple in/ outs u may need firewire.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

fire wires good if your looking to produce with something like pro tools? If thats your thing, the top end pro tools interface’s only come with a firewire connection due to the amount of information it may have to carry to your computer. what are you looking at producing with?

Not looking at Pro Tools yet. More specifically Logic, Reason, Ableton, FL.

if you want to use sound improvement, signal enchancers oa any other sound hardware then you are going to need firewire.

Thanks for the replies.
After more extensive research I decided to opt for the Pro model.
Also finding a really good price helped, too

I was PM’ed a link in some forum. It’s supposedly meant for students of Coventry Uni only but this is never checked.
I got my Pro for Â£772 which if you consider is Â£899 in the Apple shop is a pretty good deal.
Delivered within 24 hrs, too.
