ravenParticipantAs tobacco_slammers mentioned you need a Mac for logic. I can’t help in this case. But the requirements tobacco_slammers listed won’t make you happy. These are the minimal requirements to >run< these programs, but not to >work< with them. You need much more performance.
If you haven’t already bought logic and you want to buy a PC I can help you. Just tell it… and how much you want to spend? I built a new PC one month ago and spent a lot of time in comparing components.

bronzfiddlaParticipantIm pretty sure u can run logic on windows, ive had it on my laptop before. Im willing to spend up to about £750 for a computer, possibly custom built and with a screen. If u can help me, i would appreciate it!

anisinaParticipantYou can no longer run the last two versions of Logic on a PC. The support for PC was brought to an end with Logic 6 onwards, because Apple Corp. bought eMagic, and quite a few people turned away from Logic because of Apple’s attempt to boost Mac sales. The last Logic for PC was Logic 5.5.
For PC, go with Cubase (or Nuendo) or Sonar, though only if you require the things that Logic can do.

bronzfiddlaParticipantthat sucks, i really need the rhodes vst for logic though, the e88 or somethin like that, would it not be worth using 5.5? do u know of any good rhodes vst’s for cubase? because the e88 for logic is the best one i have used!!

dawsParticipantyou want to have as much memory (ram) as you can, also a lot of hard drive space if you are planning to keep music on your computer. a fast CPU will also boost performance levels.
the main thing you want is ram nd cpu, 1GB of ram should do the trick, and try to get a cpu of at least 2GHz. you should be able to get away with the hard drive provided

ravenParticipantSorry that I’m answering so late. But my graphic chip(fan) died shortly after my reply and than I had to wait untill the new was delivered and than had alot to work.
But don’t be scared the PC I built one month ago was for my sister but also to make music with and it still works fine. I have to save money first. Only my own old one needed a new graphic card.If you don’t want to build the PC for yourself, I recommend to find a store that has all the wanted parts and that will build it for you. I don’t think there is a complete PC that has all you wants and is as cheap as the built one.
I think it’s most important to have a good motherboard that has no bugs and a good BIOS with many possible settings. You have to decide if you want AMD or Intel. I chose AMD because an AMD CPU that costs as much as an Intel CPU has faster audio processing –> http://hardware.thgweb.de/charts/prozessoren.html
A high end AMD motherboard costs about 150 Euro and an Intel ca. 300 Euro. Intel mainboards with P965 (100 – 150 Euro) chipset seem to have bugs (e.g. on/off bug) and other issues.
That’s why I recommend the nvidia nforce 590sli chipset for socket AM2. If you use SLI-certified memory you will have an automatic performance increase of 25%. You should take 2GB or more RAM (2 * 1GB because of Dualchannel). I chose the Gigabyte GA-M59sli-S5, because it has the best BIOS imo, I found no bad experieces about it in www and it’s passiv cooled(no fan noises).
Because of your MIDI-Keyboard and low latencies: you should buy a multicore CPU, you shouldn’t take nforce4 or 3 chipset (latency issues).
Audio performance depents mostly on a high CPU-frequency, not on the L2 cache size or something else like other applications do.
It must have been about 5 years ago since logic 5.5 was released and I worked with it. I wouldn’t use such an old software only because of a plugin. I’m sure you will find a better newer vsti.

DjStevieGParticipantHave a look at red submarine.
The dudes there make em to spec.
Cost a fair bit more than £750 though but u could just buy the parts u need.AdSense 336x280February 19, 2008 at 1:03 am #643652

VST is compatible with all sorts of DAWs (that includes cubase). I suggest you really don’t need any one virtual instrument that much anywayAdSense 336x280 -
