drunkenbakerParticipantHere’s a link to the opening bars of Adrenalin with the synth you’re after. Since it’s from the original track and not the ‘live’ version you should be able to grab it clean: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/704 … _synth.wav
The only one that’s stumping me is the ‘now hear this’ vocal. It’s annoying because I know it’s in ‘James Brown is Dead’ by LA Style, and I’m certain I have it clean somewhere but I can’t find it yet!
About the plugin you’re after, I don’t have a copy of Protracker handy, but I think the ‘A’ command is the fast volume slider? Have you tried something like CamelSpace from Camel Audio? It’s got a tempo synced trancegate feature that you can program over 128 steps and run at double-time etc. Might get you somewhere near that sound.

drunkenbakerParticipantAnd the mystery is solved!
The second track on , ‘James Brown is Dead (Take Outs)’ is a handful of clean samples straight from the source. Sort of explains why there were so many unofficial remixes!
Anyway, here’s a link to the clean sample: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/704 … r_this.wav
Anything else you’re after?
AdSense 336x280September 28, 2013 at 11:59 am #700452
drunkenbakerParticipantJust to finish up, I’ve grabbed the relevant bits from Blue Room as well.
I noticed in the original .mod that ‘orbbeat1’ wasn’t 100% clean, even though there’s a clean version a few bars on, so I grabbed them both.
orbbeat1 (clean) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/704 … bbeat1.wav
orbbeat1 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/704 … beat1a.wav
orbbeat2 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/704 … bbeat2.wavThat should cover everything! Hope it’s been useful.

spoonwzdParticipantGreat thanks. So just missing the ‘Now Hear This’ vocal from the recent list.
Will check out the plugin if I can find it – thanks again!
AdSense 336x280September 28, 2013 at 2:07 pm #700457
spoonwzdParticipantOk, next up is the problem with the stab from Praga Khan – Rave Alarm. I cannot find a version that has it clean/without the crowd noise!
AdSense 336x280September 28, 2013 at 2:08 pm #700458
spoonwzdParticipantI must learn to refresh the page before posting!
AdSense 336x280September 28, 2013 at 3:19 pm #700459
drunkenbakerParticipantComing right up! From the Underground Mix: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/704 … _stabs.wav
AdSense 336x280September 28, 2013 at 4:10 pm #700460
spoonwzdParticipantAhh perfect!
It seems you may need more of a challenge! How’s about this: JOES Mod #02 – Sample index #0B – N-JoiPiano. This was pulled from N-Joi Live in Manchester, commonly referred to as "Feelings inside", but as far as I can find out it was only part of their live set and was never released as a separate track. I have tried recreating the chord with a variety of piano instruments and samples, but I can’t quite get it close enough.
Thanks again for pointing out the Cubik bass sample. This seems to have totally fixed the mix.
AdSense 336x280September 28, 2013 at 5:37 pm #700461
drunkenbakerParticipantNo problem, glad I could be of some help!
How’s this? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/704 … inside.wav
AdSense 336x280September 28, 2013 at 6:41 pm #700462
spoonwzdParticipantYup, nice one – cheers.
The only other thing I’m struggling with right now is finding Two D.J.’s – The Creation. I cannot find a high quality copy of this track anywhere.
AdSense 336x280September 28, 2013 at 9:50 pm #700464
drunkenbakerParticipant.
AdSense 336x280September 29, 2013 at 12:49 pm #700466
spoonwzdParticipantI’ve tried using the feelings inside piano riff you made DB – it fits the same way mine do, as in they don’t quite!
AdSense 336x280September 29, 2013 at 1:07 pm #700467
drunkenbakerParticipantAh well, it was worth a try! It’s the right piano (Korg M1, as used on ‘Anthem’ as well) and more-or-less the right chords but there’s always something that’s missing when trying to recreate a sound. It’s just a shame that it’s crowd noise under the original sample as it tends to get a bit hissy when played at different pitches, not that poor sound quality ever stopped producers back in the day!
Let me know if you’re after anything else
AdSense 336x280September 29, 2013 at 4:39 pm #700469
spoonwzdParticipantAdmittedly, the original doesn’t sound too bad with a bit of EQ.
I think the chord is right – I think certain notes of the chord are played with more weight, or something.

Whaddya think?
AdSense 336x280September 30, 2013 at 12:06 pm #700485
drunkenbakerParticipantI chopped the second chord out of the sample I made and it seemed OK when I played through the riff, but yeah, the original sample definitely sounds better in context. Any trouble with the crowd noise on the sample is forgotten about once the bassline kicks in properly.
AdSense 336x280October 2, 2013 at 6:48 pm #700501
spoonwzdParticipantDoes this mean I shouldn’t care?
AdSense 336x280October 3, 2013 at 5:52 pm #700506
drunkenbakerParticipantI wouldn’t worry about a few seconds, I think the noisy sample source adds to the authenticity!
AdSense 336x280October 4, 2013 at 3:58 pm #700509
spoonwzdParticipantAny ideas which Shamen remixes these came from?
JOES #11 – Sample index #01 – Shamen1
JOES #11 – Sample index #02 – Shamen2
JOES #11 – Sample index #03 – ShamenBleeps1AdSense 336x280October 4, 2013 at 10:58 pm #700511
drunkenbakerParticipantNo idea!
Well, alright. At least two of them are from the "Teddy Necker" mix, from the Face EP. I don’t have a copy of it though.

AdSense 336x280October 5, 2013 at 9:36 am #700515
spoonwzdParticipantThat’s the puppy – all 3 are from there, although I’m going to need to add some claps to Shamen2 as the hats are a completely different beast when sampled at 22k!
I am ridiculously close to completing the JOEs remake now. How are your ears and rig setup from a levels/mastering perspective? I could use an extra ear on the final mixdown levels and post production phases. levelling nearly 30 mins of audio is a challenge.
AdSense 336x280October 7, 2013 at 6:44 pm #700558
spoonwzdParticipantWell, it’s finally complete! Ready for some peer review action.
AdSense 336x280October 13, 2013 at 7:49 pm #700606
drunkenbakerParticipantGlad to hear it’s all done! I’d love to give it a listen, but I couldn’t give you any useful mastering feedback since I sold all my outboard equipment (including monitors) a few months back in a clearout and now I’m stuck with a pair of Creature IIs and some HD-25s
AdSense 336x280October 13, 2013 at 8:03 pm #700607
spoonwzdParticipantAre you on Skype? Can we move this to an IM conversation?
AdSense 336x280October 27, 2013 at 11:01 am #700713
spoonwzdParticipantTa daaaa!
