Drumstix71Participantmusicxp.net has the best stuff. I run all those tweaks (all, even disable popup balloons!) and my PC is super fast. Even my old 1.7 celeron with 1 GB ram was super fast. full hard drives can mess up your performance and having tons of programs can slow things down. (windows tweaking software included)
Always good to do a cleanup. I mean, when last did you use Win DVD? Or that cracked version of Registry Mechanic?
I periodically uninstall programs that i dont use and get rid of plugins. Dont just install plugins just to say you have em. Try get your software and plugins down to the minimum that you use daily.
and get your samples and data onto another drive – DRIVE 1 OS, DRIVE 2 DATA

Eagle009ParticipantJust wanted to say thank you for the info on the first page about the Background Services. Noticing some tighter timings.
Awesome! I know this thread is old as hell, but you just taught me a new trick. I’ve only had the option of ASIO for 4 months now, so didn’t know about that. This thread definitely has good info even for today.
Thanks again.

FrigginNoodlesParticipantHey guys AVG PcTuneUp is by far the best program out to speed up any slow pc. It offers many different aspects registry scans, disc scans, internet optimization, ect and things to do to help get your system like new again. I have used this program to fix a few of my relatives computers (one with xp that took literally 20 minutes to boot and also one that it found 38,387 errors on) and run it regularly on all of my pc’s. Works like a charm every time, however it is not a free program, unless you download a pre-cracked torrent version. Hope this helps anyone having a rough time with their computer.
P.S. Am I allowed to post a link to the torrent for this?
Oh yes, by the way do: ctrl+alt+del –> task manager –> Processes End any unnecessary processes to free up memory, thus speeding up your system as well.
Enjoy!

Michael CrothersParticipantLack in read/write speed of hard drives can also be a major bottleneck for your system.

DecibelAlexParticipantIf you have an Intel CPU, a good cpu fan, decent amount of RAM capacity and a motherboard compatible for overclocking, you can easily and safely change the clock frequence up by about 300Mhz which is often the recommended total overclock. Check google for overclocking guides on how to do this!
I overclocked my stationary PC’s single core Intel Pentium 4 CPU from 2.8ghz to ~3.4ghz (quite "extreme" OC if you ask me)
Running and stable! …well a few bluescreens now and then as it boots as the CPU fan isn’t quite good….
If you have an AMD CPU, don’t even think about overclocking it. If your AMD CPU gets overheated once, it breaks.AdSense 336x280December 23, 2011 at 10:23 pm #690573
