alibear4lifeParticipantFor years I’ve been trying to track down the drums used in all of these Kanye produced beats, they’re an ultra distinctive Snare and Hat, and possibly that same kick too, though he doesn’t always use the same kick every time he uses the Snare and Hat.
Through the Wire (Chorus portion)
So Soulful – Consequence (they’re partially open at the very beginning of this track)
Comfortable – Lil Wayne
Nobody Eats But Me – Bump J
We Are The Champions – Rocafella Dream Team
U Know – White Boy (Just the kick and hats here)There are a bunch of other tracks he uses them on, but I think that’s enough to work with
I tried linking to each track, but it won’t let me because it looks "too spammy"
Any help much appreciated, I’ve listened to the entire Ultimate Breaks n Beats Collection and came up empty handed. Maybe I missed something though.

alibear4lifeParticipantTurns out the same drums are used in OutKast’s player’s ball remix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GB3yWDQivHc
hopefully this narrows it down

gloombotParticipantApologies for posting without listening to the tracks but it’s possible he just took a sample, edited it heavily and then reuses it. Doing it that way gives him a sample that isn’t going to be a stock sound that every asshole on the internet will recognize and helps him to establish a "signature sound". I know that’s not really answering your question directly but it may be a different way to look at the whole thing.

alibear4lifeParticipantI feel you, but I’ve been hunting Kanye samples for years, and out of hundreds of finds, not once has he surprised me when it’s come to matchup up drums/other samples. He’s never done anything like you mentioned on any track up to the Dark Twisted Fantasy era, and even then it’s really no change
As far as these drums go though, like I said in the 2nd post, the drums are in an OutKast song too, kick too! So now I’m 100% positive it’s just an old drum break

gloombotParticipantGotchya, sorry I can’t be of more help. Only time I listen to any of that sort of stuff is when it’s sampled and/or heavily remixed. I’ll say this though; if you can’t find it, make it (or at least something along the same line).
