djphoParticipantDoes anyone know a way to line up the instrumental with teh original song because no matter what i do. I can’t line up the instrumental with the song! It’s annoying me. I zoom in all the way and nudge it once to the left or right and it still won’t cancel out the whole song.
Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying to remix a song.

jamaxson3Participantfirst of all you gotta make sure the beats per minute for the insturmental and the acapella match up. if they do, what helps me is to just play the insturmental and just sing the lyrics and try and match it up from there.
sometimes in older songs the beats per minute are alittle "off" you you have to adjust them manually which can be alittle time consuming but its worth itAdSense 336x280December 14, 2008 at 8:15 am #660754

Usually they speed it up slightly and modify the waves a little bit so that the actual audio is nearly the same, but the readout isn’t.

So is there a way around this?

LibraClassicParticipantI found out through trial and error what to do. Hope this helps:
1. Listen to the original track that the acapella originates from
2. Calculate the BPM and lock your sequencer to that beat
3. Your acapella should almost exactly match the bpm (this depends – if you’re
remixing an old tune with fluctuations in the bpm value, then you’ll need to do
some fine tuning.) Anyhoo…..
Run a click track and use the time warp tools in your sequencer to lock your
acapella to the click track (this way as the tempo changes, your acapella will
speed up or slow down accordingly.I’m speaking to you more or less from a Cubase/Nuendo point of view. I forget offhand what to do when I’m using Pro Tools, Ableton Live sort of solves its own problem, and Sonar I forget, too (i seem to remember it being less of an issue here than anywhere). Also check YouTube. There’s a lot of information on there about it…
