Reggie_p75ParticipantYep..
That’s all I’m getting from VoiceTrap too..
Like someone singing into a big tin can or a metal box.
The controls on the the program look big n nice but if we don’t know wot the fuck we’re doing all we’re gonna get is some acapellas that would sound pretty good in a mix played in a club on Daleks & Cybermen night!!!!
Only once or twice have I got great results and that was processed using the cepstral algorithm section and totally stripping out everything. I worked on pieces where I knew it was all in the same key, then changed the settings for when the track changed key.
The whole problem tho is the fact that songs today r overproduced. Just too much crap crowding a mix out..
Of the track I got good results, I tried stuff like early 70s Rod Stewart n stuff where the guitars had been layered and hard panned n I got some good results. Trying to get good results with todays music production is bloody useless.
Another downer on VoiceTrap is that there isn’t any numbered values u can save or write down for future reference, a bit of a flaw really!!!!

thx a lot for the reply
are you using voice trap or do you have another plugin for acapellas which work better on Goldwave 5.22?

Reggie_p75ParticipantI’ve not used Goldwave or any other digital audio editor except for SoundForge, so sadly I can’t comment on that..
At the moment I’m using VoiceTrap, Knockout and lately have used the Vocal Eraser on Sony’s SoundForge Audio Studio.
I primarily use VoiceTrap and Knockout with SoundForge 8 tho and I only use SoundForge Audio Studio for the Vocal Eraser as it’s a bit of a ‘weak’ program.
I’ve also, just today, downloaded the Extra Boy plugin just out of curiosity as to determine if it does the job of stripping out acapellas any better than VoiceTrap, Knockout or Vocal Eraser.
So if I was you, I’d try getting the Knockout plugin and Extraboy plugin, just to give them a try to see if they feel better to work with and do a better job

deejay21ParticipantI must contradict! Voice Trap did the job very well for me to extract the voice that was recorded in the middle from a mostly left panned piano and a right side panned flute. Besides some artifacts from the piano, when the voice is not heard and the remaining crosstalk noise the vocal can now be used nearly free…if i’d take a noisegate it would be even more clean…But i must admit, it works only in a few cases that good. In most of the cases i get the same results like you all. Important is to use wave files instead of mp3s to have a correct phase information in the file.
