DJHouseflyParticipantHey,
I’ve searched youtube on how to create a clean acapella, I couldn’t find anything–they were either rick rolls or videos that didn’t help me/work.
I have made some remixes before, but those remixes contained acapellas that I downloaded free off the internet–I’d like to create a DIY acapella without finding out that the Mediafire download link for the acapella I was looking for is dead.
(please, strictly Audacity and not anything else.)
Thanks,

crudParticipantI just went through that search. Pretty much what you have to do is find an instrumental version of the song, go to effect and invert it and play it side by side with the original and it will remove most the instruments. the quality of the instrumental is key and you must zoom in really close to make sure the wave forms match up EXACTLY. so … good luck looking for an instrumental.

DJHouseflyParticipantThanks, but I’d like to create an acapella with only the original.

OleSchoolParticipantsometimes you may have to adjust the volume of the inverted instrumental to get a better result (especially if the vocal track is louder than the instrumental).

There is a vst called knockout that tries to cancel out what differs between channels. The idea is that you’re left with vocals since they are typically panned center. However, my results with this method have never been great. There’s lots of info on here for making acapellas, and it doesn’t really matter what DAW you’re working with. The methodology doesn’t change much, just the interface.

Tion LineParticipantIn my Linux Audacity Version, there is a plugin called "Vocal Remover" (dunno where it comes from, it was pre-installed), its somehow different than the other karaoke plugins i found (or was pre-installed in windows.. dunno anymore). It creates waaaaaaaay better karaokes than i get in the normal way (invert one channel etc…) or by other plugins (see above).
Then I use FL with the plugin "k0ckout" (see post above) and with a bit adjusting and equalizing i get quite good acapellas (good enough for my remixes)AdSense 336x280August 15, 2012 at 11:22 am #694299
