ChunkyEatsMyDinnerParticipantHi,
I am currently playing in the middle east and US hip-hop (TI, DJ Unk, Soulja Boy etc) is very popular out here.If anyone can help me out and list some of their favourite tunes of this style for me it would be very much appreciated as my CD cases are aimed very much at the UK scene at the moment.
Thanks in advance

I don’t think most of these guys are at all relevant to what you initially asked for, and wouldn’t bother wasting your time seeking them out.

Greg JParticipant[quote quote="marx07":1j2c3tlv]Wow huge variation there. Soulja Boy to Lupe Fiasco, dunno how different you can get.
Mos Def
Talib Kweli
Blackalicious
Brother Ali
Common
Jemini
MF Doom
MF Grimm
Dead Prez
Dilated Peoples
Gemstones (AKA Gemini)
Jurassic 5
People Under the Stairs
Pharoahe Monch
Rhymefest
The Roots
Soul Position[/quote:1j2c3tlv]and wow. How do any of these artists fit anywhere between Soulja Boy and Lupe Fiasco? He didn’t say "I would like a list of American hip hop that people who wear backpacks and tell other people they are ‘keeping it real’ would like to listen to while they smoke a blunt and wax poetically about social injustice".
He pretty much asked for top 40 mainstream suggestions. Not at all what anything on your list is.
I’m not saying I don’t like a lot of the artists you have listed, I just think it’s very mis-informative for you to try and steer something in that direction when they were clearly asking for something else.

What you want to do is actually check the billboard charts, and radio station charts. You’re looking for top 40 hip hop. Try Wild 94.9’s website (I think it’s probably http://www.wild949.com), and LA’s big hip hop station is Power 106 (KPWR), and also whatever station in NYC Funkmaster Flex DJ’s on. All of those websites should have like a top 200 songs current playlist. Check out everything on those lists, that will be relevant to TI, Unk, and Soulja Boy.
