dedtonyParticipantHow many years is Dre gonna claim that’s on its way?
There’s all sorts of leaks to the net that CLAIM to be "Detox,"
but are they actually from the alleged "Detox" sessions or just lost tracks?
This reminds me of the man that made Dre famous in the first place, EAZY-E and his continual "Temporary Insanity" plugs, which never happened…Actually, an honest question here: How many years HAS Dre been claiming Detox is on its way?
I could swear that goes back to his Aftermath debut album days…
AND, to make this thread interesting, what other artists have claimed an album was on its way to release but it didn’t happen? What ruined the project? Are there any leaked cuts on the net?

yazza187ParticipantDetox has been in work for 7 years so dre says. He is a perfectionist and to have a back catalog like has his u can see why. i have read onterviews with Busta Rhymes and Stat Quo who booth say they have done tracks with dre for it and they booth only herd their songs and dre is the only person to of herd all the tracks so far.
the tracks "Imagine" is the closes to a leak of Detox because Dre claims that was going to be on Detox but he gave it to Snoop for "The Blue Carpet Treatment" other information for Detox that has been officially realsed is that Dre has done 18 tracks for it but only wants 14 he stated this on Power 106 and also that its is going to tell a story all the way through with featuring artists playing different characters

dedtonyParticipantMan, thanks for all the information there…People on this site know more than a Google search when it comes to music…Oh, another album mentioned but never released came from Ol’ Dirty Bastard…Way back on an episode of Rap City…probably around 1998-1999, he said something or other about releasing a full album as his "Big Baby Jesus" persona…Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on perspective), he’s
probably dining with "Big Adult/Actual Jesus" about now…At least I hope so…He could be somewhere else….

SeanzaParticipantYazza is pretty much your guy for the update’s on the Detox album, if you search for "Detox" you’ll see he comes up trumps with the info every time. He even provided us with a Dr. Dre interview (where he got his info for your reply), but I can’t find it when I search for it, he may need to repost it?
I have a weird feeling about him as his 1st initial is A and his surname is Young
Peace
EDIT: great youtube video dude, post it on here we have a coding system which allows our members to show their videos in their posts!

vice versesParticipanttheres a really dodgy bootleg i saw of dre in hmv called detox…. infact ive seen many bootlegs in hmv lately, especially 2pac cds that dont even contain pac tracks, suprising for hmv as such a big retail company.
by the way the detox i saw didnt contain anything to get excited about.

dedtonyParticipant"especially 2pac cds that dont even contain pac tracks…"
That’s crazy! I bought a CD called "Makaveli-The Hidden Verses" at a flea market several years ago that had some EXTREMELY lame rappers on it from Chicago (or at least they kept referencing "Chi-Town," so I assume they were from Chicago) and the ONLY Pac stuff on the entire disc came from samples from the MTV interview he did with Tabitha Soren (at the beginning of ONE track of 15!!!)…hahaha…All I can say on Pac bootlegs is BUYER BEWARE…To this day, I have yet been able to track down any other CDs recorded by the frauds that released "Hidden Verses," and I have tried just so I could send them an email regarding their punk move of using Makaveli’s name to sale lame raps over lamer beats…The beats sounded a LOT like they were made on Fruity Loops or something…and made the "Laffy Taffy" beat sound genius…hahaha…

SeanzaParticipantdedtony wrote:The beats sounded a LOT like they were made on Fruity Loops or somethingAnd what’s wrong with that? I’ve made some hot beats with FL.
Thing is, anyone who buys 2Pac CDs should beware, as they’re already sucked into a major commercial vortex.
AdSense 336x280September 17, 2007 at 7:20 am #633787
kaliwest777ParticipantYeah, there are leaked/scrapped Dr. Dre Detox songs from the past couple of years, but dre also talked about chronic 2001 & that shit took a while to drop (1999) but then again since it dropped a year early, this upcoming release is really late, Bishop Lamont’s album "The Reformation" will now drop before Detox… good things come to those who wait I guess, cause after detox, that may be it & that’s sad for hip hop, I hope he drops another 3 albums, no matter how long they take…
Anybody see him at the Vegas MTV VMA’s? Damn, he”s been working out… he made me step my gym game up, lol

all the new 1’s have because he became a marketing brand but thats why u buy bootlegs like "The Way He Wanted It" series
vice versesParticipantStarkZ The Phantom wrote:another thing that happened, is alot of the Dre beats on The Games: Doctors Advocate were suposta be on the Detox, but Game bought them, putting Dre at square one..dre wasnt involved in any of the production on the doctors advocate!
granted i reckon those tracks he did produce exist out there, as there must be tracks that didnt make the final cut… i know of one where ja rule and game collaborated that didnt make the album, but less said the better!!

BeauZayParticipantthats the thing. its not coming out.
AdSense 336x280May 4, 2008 at 5:08 pm #649041
C-SquaredParticipantY’all realize what a bonus it is for the hip-hop world that Dre is doing this right? We have already heard most of the tracks that would have been on the original Detox. Between tracks Game released on tapes with Dre that were actual Detox tracks, to the HUGE amount of songs Dre made for himself, and then sold to other acts, we have much more quality Dre material because of this perfectionist mindset.
Don’t think he hasn’t released anything – if you’re a Dre fan, you’re happy that three or four albums worth of work has been put out by him since 2001.

jbiggs8Participanton the contrary, its supposed to be coming out this november or december. seeing as dre said that would be an ideal time frame, im willing to say it may be released early in 09

vice versesParticipantjbiggs8 wrote:on the contrary, its supposed to be coming out this november or december. seeing as dre said that would be an ideal time frame, im willing to say it may be released early in 09yea ive heared a few youtube rumours,
but then realistically havent we just been given false hope after false hope for too many years now, i understand the need to build up such anticipation for a release like this, but my god, whatever dre comes out with surely cant live up to the hype it is awaiting.
seems a record deal with aftermath isnt worth the paper its printed on, these days.. all promises and no delivery.
what happened to all the signees to aftermath over the last 5 years?! eg: G.A.G,E, stat quo, eve, to name just a few?!
ps im not hating on dre, he is a legend. I just think as fans it takes the piss to keep promising and never delivering.

BIG D OParticipantI’ve stopped anticipating it, just gonna let it come when it come man…..no sense in sitting around waiting for something that in all honesty won’t ever come on time…..lol, it will be ill when it do come though…..better be like 20 tracks though….fuck that…..

DjGcFresh410Participantit pisses me off cuz lots of people produce and rap and still put out tons of material
dre says hes too busy but he doesnt put any more shit out than a lot of people it doesnt take 12 years to make an album he just bullshittin

uptheirons106ParticipantOnly thing I’ve got to add is has anyone else heard Crooked I’s INSANE flow over the new "Under Pressure" beat? I love the beat alone, but Crooked I is insane. I don’t care if Detox sucks (since the actual version of this track with Dre/HOV on it wasn’t even as CLOSE to as good as this one IMO), I love that this beat dropped and Crooked I got on it on Tupac’s birthday, hahaha. 😉
Peep it here. (Be sure and watch in HQ though…)
