I ran Virtual PC on my mac briefly to see if Sony Acid would work though it.
My powerbook is 17" and only has a 1GHz processor and 512 RAM (it did have much…MUCH more but that’s another short circuit story)
It was sluggish definately. and if i ran anything processor hungry in OSX, Virtual PC would do a ‘Virtual’ Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) so to be honest i wouldn’t use it.
If you’ve got a mac book (pro) or anything with an intel chip, it’s probably better to use Bootcamp.
I use qemu on a 700 Mhz G4 running windows 95 and some audio editing software but it runs at a painful 33 Mhz (maximum 56 Mhz if the laptop is cool)
Virtual PC sucks. Unless you have a loaded quad-core with 4 gigs of ram and a 500 gig hard drive…stick with apps that work directly with mac
well i used to use a program that runs both os at the same time …which obviously slowed it down ….
but the question is …why run windows on a mac…..it just not worth it ..
virtual pc is an emulation, so the processor must do the job two times and subtracts resources from the system.
that means applications inside and outside the virtual machine are running slower.
