nikhilbectorParticipantMacbook pro if you can afford one.
Im using a standard Macbook just for live use of Rekordbox and Logic seems to run perfectly for basic audio editing.
I also have a Mac Mini with 8Gb of RAM and surprisingly that will run massive Logic projects no problem.Depends on your budget tho

nikhilbectorParticipantHey Everyone,
I am trying to get myself a new computer that I wish to run DJ softwares on. Acid, Sound forge, Traktor, Scratch Live, Abelton etc. The unfortunate thing is that I have no idea what computer will be best suited for my needs. I prefer laptops but will gladly use a desktop if it matters. Can someone please guide me on what kind of specifications should I look for or what computer should I get. Thanks a lot.AdSense 336x280May 10, 2012 at 3:02 pm #692659

ChunkyEatsMyDinnerParticipantIf budget is no issue then its just a case of what you need.
Im guessing your looking for a laptop you can DJ from and make mashups and remixes on?I would suggest any of the Macbook pro family;
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/s … acbook_pro
Whichever one you choose, put 8Gb of RAM in her and you will have a machine ready for anything audio related.
Choosing between 2.2GHz- 2.8GHz will speed up intensive tasks like exporting and timestretching.
It will make little noticeable difference unless your gonna be video editing.AdSense 336x280May 21, 2012 at 12:08 am #692807
jaredweissParticipantMacbook Pro is the only way to go. I personally prefer Traktor and Ableton but I know a few guys who swear by Serato. What kind of DJing are you looking to do? Digital, vinyl, timecoded vinyl? Different set ups apply to different styles. Also, are you looking to use a controller, decks, or do everything from the computer?

nikhilbectorParticipantMy Live software is also Serato (timecoded Cds and Vinyls) and that’s what I am going to be using for Live. But for editing, mashups or any other homework, I would use sound forge, abelton, and acid. I would like for both to be through one system. Until now I had a Dell. It was a piece of Junk, but Serato runs on anything. Now that I want to look into editing and stuff, I need an upgrade.

ChunkyEatsMyDinnerParticipantAgain then, any Macbook Pro and pop 8Gb into it. You will be very happy with it
