mat134ParticipantI’m very new to making the DIY acapellas and I’m SLOWLY learning. I keep reading and trying new things but I haven’t come up with a single successful vocal yet. Most recently I tried the adobe audition video tutorial which is posted in another thread and it didn’t work, though the result I got was closer than anything I’ve tried before. I just want an idea, from those who are more experienced, as to what I might be doing wrong. I know there must be steps I’m completely missing or I wouldn’t be failing so constantly.
Right now I’m using Adobe Audition 2.0. to make the acapellas, I’m taking an inverted instrumental and the regular track (that’s it, I make an instrumental, which is simple enough, invert it, and then lay it next to the real track). When I align them in the multi track view it thins down the bass and the music and the vocals are clearer and easier to hear. However the snare shots of the beat are still very prominent. If I could figure out a way to take the music down just a bit more and to rid (or at least further muffle) the track of the snare shots, I would be able to use them.
Right now I’m reading through the help section of the clear channel extractor and noise reduction options in Adobe Audition 2.0. I’ve been trying new and different settings . . . lots of trial and error, but nothing has brought me closer to ridding the "thinned down" version of the song of the snare and music. Hopefully I’ve made myself clear.
Again. I’m only using Adobe, I’m trying a simple method and I have no real knowlege yet of the technical terms people in these forums use. I don’t expect anyone to really give me a step by step instruction that will break it all open, but I just hope, based on what I’ve mentioned about my current process, someone can tell me why I’m failing and what I’m doing wrong.
