JuggernautParticipanti tend to swear by: Pioneer or Allen & Heath mixers.

stephanlukeParticipantIt all depends what you are looking for in a mixer. Do you want knobs or sliders? on board effects? midi out? crystalline sound? home or professional use? how many inputs? Price?
Pioneer has been very agressive in targeting the dj market and in the process has been improving the quality of its products. Their new line of mixers can be found in a lot of top nightclubs in the US today. Allen and Heath have also got the stamp of approval by a lot of top dj’s and can be found in a lot of clubs in Europe. These companies are a good start. The new Ecler Nuo4 has been receiving great reviews and is competitively priced considering his full midi implementation. The market of the dj mixer is changing with the increasing demands of the digital dj. Because there are so many mixers out there, determine what features are most important to you first, that should help your decision making.AdSense 336x280January 2, 2007 at 7:05 am #608631

Dj Michele CiuoffoParticipantThe 3 best and most common are Pioneer Djm 800, Allen & Heath Xone 3:D and Allen & Heath Xone:92 !

kanji03ParticipantLike some guys already said. Pioneer or Allen & Heath. Pioneer mixers were stardard in many many clubs around the world for many years. Pioneer mixers have nice and useful effect section and basic filter. Allen & Heath focus more on equlizer section and different filters. My friend has Allen & Heats Xone:92 and it’s awesome. Hipass, and lowpass filters. Voltage control to filters and crossfader. Beauty!

lil_funkyParticipantI love the Allen & Heath Xone 92 mixer and the Rane Mp 44

J-PitchParticipantI own all Rane products. I have a TTM56 and a Empath. I love them to death. I have to admit though, the DJM800 is an awesome mixer. 1000 times better than the 600. I have played on the Xone 62 and its pretty awesome as well. If I went A&H, I would get a Xone 92 rotary. Also, Korg just released a 4 channel mixer that looks pretty awesome. I haven’t seen much on it yet.

diskobiscut2ParticipantI use the Pioneer 800 as well. Definitely agree its a HUGE step up from the 600. However, I must disagree that they don’t sound better in clubs than at home. Most venues I play have the 800 or similar (Allen/Heath).
Sometimes we must look beyond the DJ setup and look at the P.A. setup onwards. The 800 has a fantastic upgrade from it’s predecessors with the 24 bits. Sounds fantastic!
But, every DJ has personal preferences.
I fyou’re a scratch/battle DJ – the 500/600/800 from pioneer or any of the Allen/Heath’s are too wide and have more channels than you need. The DJM 909 is perfect and still has high quality sound output. Along with a slew of the Rane models.
I’m sure many of us have tried to go cheap in the past and buy products that mirrored some of the best… like that fairly new Behringer 4 channel mixer. Never hear anything good about that.
Moving onwards – Cheap is effective for instant gratification. In the long run, the cheaper stuff breaks down quickly.
I won’t give brand names, but have had mixers that rhymed with "shoe-marks", "Best Tax" and "Stand-in". The all worked great when I was doing alot of scratching and beating on the faders, but fitzed out under two years each. Not just the faders either.
Once I got my Pioneer – I completely understood where my money was spent.

djrickiedhParticipantdjm 800 all the way – nice short faders, everything is tight & smooth.
Allen & Heaths have brilliant filters though!

frnzixParticipantDJM1000 is a fav of mine when set up with a effects machine like the EFX500 or EFX1000
like having the extra channels, and to get around the width of this i use table stands that hold the CDJs above the mixer, instead of reaching wide!
the MASTER EQ is (ISOLATOR) is good fun with its massive knobs which are great for flicking around, and are rather snappy!
otherwise id say the DJM800 for its price and features effects midi etc etc
or the A & H Xone:92 such a smooth mixer!!!

Cdw11ParticipantI belive at the end of the day it comes down to choice and youre style of mixing — I currently use a DJM800 and think it is fantastic, but maybe because I previously used a DJM600 and are used to the layout etc… (The 800 kicks ass over sound quality & FX over 600)
I have used many mixers and do like the allen & heath but belive you should try before you buy to make sure you get the perfect match

i remember looking at some Forumla Sound mixers at PLASA last year and the first thing i thought was "why are they showing a set of vintage mixers?"…They’re pretty FUgly but the sound from them is awesome.

sandro_rodriguezParticipantalready been said (many times) but I use the pioneer 800.
The quality is such an advancement on the 600, but for me it’s the midi control functionality that allows me to control abelton adding a new dimension to my mixing.
