dunno really mate but your best bet for compatability is probably an external sound card of some type.
M-Audio Firewire 4-10 is great…mate has one but they’re pricey!
What are you gonna be using it for and how much do you have to spend
I heard bout Creative Audigy 2 ZS Notebook. That`s a PCMCIA sound device. Seems to me, that’s the very good alternative. Cheers
Echo indigo IO is really good i heard. If you just want something better than your onboard sound, i’d get the soundblaster audigy zx2
both have asio drivers so they have low latency in cubase or ableton.
I use the Soundblaster audigy zx2 pcmcia card. It has both digital and analog i/o’s. The sound output is nice and it comes with a surround sound attachment.

That Edirol soundcard you’ve got is a mixer with USB audio embedded right?
Where are you looking for right now?
Something similar or is a stand-alone soundcard also one of your options?
I’m using the Digidesign M box 2, also available in a slightly stripped version (M box2-mini), wich is more effortable offcourse.
You might take a look at the specifications of that one, I can only say that I’m really happy with it.
