DJ LevantParticipantYou asked for a competition, here it is! At Acapellas4U we wanted to give our members a chance to participate in a competition that appeals to a variety of genres and allows members to be artistic & imaginative, thus the megamix competition was born. We are also happy to announce that the comp will be judged by the [b:3180szq7][/b:3180szq7]
What is a Megamix?
Wikipedia.org wrote:A megamix is a medley remix containing multiple songs in rapid succession. There may be only one verse or even just a brief chorus of each song used, sometimes in addition to samples of the same or other songs. To unify the songs together smoothly, there is often a single backing beat common throughout the megamix, though it is kept basic so as to simplify mixing and to not compete with the music. The Prizes
We have teamed up with [b:3180szq7][/b:3180szq7] to offer a great selection of prizes with a total value of $1000.* 1 lucky winner will receive a $500 gift voucher for the Midi-Store plus 100 bonus download credits.
* 2 runner-ups will each win a $250 Midi-Store voucher as well as 50 bonus download credits.
Things to consider in your Megamix
Creativity – We encourage you to use a variety of acapellas and tracks in your megamix. While listening and hear a range of samples being used originally.
Flow – Make sure all the elements in your megamix gel together. A solid megamix should contain an assortment of vocals and tunes but also a stay in key and have a consistent back beat to keep it all tied together.
Technique – How you place everything together is important. Use a variety of techniques to showcase your talent as an artist.
Entertainment value – Most importantly your megamix should be fun!The Rules
[list=1:3180szq7][*:3180szq7]Whilst you are required to sample a variety of vocals and tracks, your megamix MUST be entirely your own work.[/*:m:3180szq7]
[*:3180szq7]The megamix must have a maximum time length of 6 minutes. The maximum time is to prevent your mix from becoming uninteresting and to aid the judging process. Remember however than an excessively short megamix may not be all that appealing.[/*:m:3180szq7]
[*:3180szq7]The megamixes genre, tempo and style are entirely your choice. There is no limit on the number of tracks you can sample so let your imagination run wild. You can have an introduction to your megamix if you wish, however this will be included in your 6 minute limit.[/*:m:3180szq7]
[*:3180szq7]The competition is open to Acapellas4U members only. Only one entry per member is allowed. Staff members of Acapellas4U are excluded from entering the competition.[/*:m:3180szq7]
[*:3180szq7]You have four weeks to work on your megamix. Entries must be submitted before Saturday July 11, 2009.[/*:m:3180szq7]
[*:3180szq7]All megamixes must be posted [b:3180szq7][/b:3180szq7]. Megamixes should be attached using a trustworthy hosting site in mp3 format and encoded at 192kbps. Our preferences for hosting are Zshare, Mediafire, and 4shared. Also ensure your file is named to include your Acapellas4U username so we can identify and contact you if you are a winner. It is your duty to ensure that your mix is downloadable from your chosen host site on the end date.[/*:m:3180szq7]
[*:3180szq7]Once the competition is closed the Cut Up Boys will listen to all entries and come up with what they think are the best 3 megamixes. As mentioned previously, prizes will be awarded to the 1x first place winner and, 2x runner-ups. All results are final.[/*:m:3180szq7]
[*:3180szq7]The winning mixes will be judged two weeks after the competition closing date (Sunday July 12th to Sunday 26th July). On the 27th, the winner will be notified by email and also announced on Acapellas4U.[/*:m:3180szq7]
[*:3180szq7]The gift voucher redemption codes for Midi-Store will be emailed to the winners after the competition has finished and once we receive the email addresses. Bonus credits will be added to your Acapellas4U account. No alternative prizes will be offered. Vouchers can only be used at Midi-Store and cannot be exchanged for anything else.[/*:m:3180szq7][/list:o:3180szq7]If you want to listen to some megamixes checkout Youtube

DJ LevantParticipantHey cmleish, Are you sure you don’t want to use a cut down version or base your entry off it? It’s an excellent mix and I hope that you put in an official entry.

tylerblainehudson123ParticipantHey!
this is my first post on this forum. I’m new to this but i’m excited to get into it.
cmleish: i loved your mix. really tight electro sounding mix and liked your use of filters and delays on certain parts of the vocal to keep it really interesting.
Kai- in your intro, i suggest fixing the note for "take" in the line take my time. it sounds sharp. besides that you mixed alot of songs very cleverly into a small area which worked very well for your mix.
Great job so far everyone!
AdSense 336x280June 13, 2009 at 11:52 pm #668762
DJ LevantParticipantI’m pleased to see the interest for this competition. Please note that this forum is not the place to post your FINAL entries. As mentioned in the rules a topic to post your official entries will be put up in the competition forum in a few days. Only the entries in that post will be judged.
I’m excited to listen to what you all come up with.
