First and foremost… I will stress that this is *NOT* an official Acapellas4u contest, nor is it affiliated with any of the Acapellas4u staff. This is done entirely in this forum for entertainment purposes only. No prizes will be awarded, this is simply for bragging rights… and being proud to have your mix featured on the Acapellas4u MySpace page. That out of the way.. onto the good stuff!!

RULES AND REGULATIONS

01. The acapella of choice will be the following:

02. Please limit any other acapellas used in your production. Drops and quick samples are permitted, but whole verses or sections will not be allowed. This ensures the focus remain on the original acapella.

03. The acapella will be sent via PM to each of the participants. This ensures everyone gets the required track, and that it isn’t available to the general public. FYI… this track will be available in the download section shortly.

04. This was a Mashup only contest… however I then noticed people bowing out of the competition having heard this. I am now making this open for both mashers and producers alike… and the best mix wins overall. You still must provide the full name of the instrumental if you use one, and of course specify whether the track was an original production if you don’t.

05. Your song must be between 3 and 6 minutes in length. Please don’t make it any shorter or longer than this. (An extra minute added for those that like a buffer)

06. Mixes are to be published at a minimum bitrate of 192 kbps, up to the recommended 320 kbps. This ensures the best quality. Also be sure to normalize your tracks accordingly.

07. Once you have uploaded your track, we ask that you provide the name(s) of the software you used to produce the mix. Your methods of mixing can remain your trade secret, but I would like the program(s) you used to be stated.

08. You will have [color color=red:36opycf4]7 days[/color:36opycf4] from the start of the contest to produce your track. Any entries submitted after the end date will be disqualified. All tracks must be submitted before [color color=red:36opycf4]April 9th, 2009 0:00 GMT[/color:36opycf4].

09. After the 7 days have elapsed, each member will post their mix in this thread. The mixes will be reviewed by me, and I will submit the top 5 tracks from the list to be taken to the polls. I will setup the poll to let people vote on the top 5 songs, to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. All 5 songs that are chosen by myself will be added to the MySpace page, and when the winners are chosen, they will be featured accordingly.

That about wraps up the rules. I may add some things as time goes on, but refer back to here for all the information. Look forward to hearing what you guys come up with!!

rules have been modified… remixes and mashups are BOTH permitted in this competition… it was silly to not include the talented producers in this. I’m more excited than ever… also to give people some more time with this new information… I’ve left registration open for the time being. Let’s hope we get some more people joining!

Nada… I haven’t closed registration yet. I changed the rules around, and let more time elapse before I closed it again. You can still join if you like, I’ll add you to the list!

Entry has officially closed… and the competition is now underway!

There are 9 total participants… and you each will receive the link to download the acapella via PM. Once you do… you have one week to produce your mix.

Once you’re finished, please post it in THIS forum… along with all the required information. Please be sure to read over the requirements before posting, as any mix that doesn’t meet the requirements will be disqualified.

If at all possible, can the 9 people in the contest please either respond to the PM stating that they have the acapella, or reply in this thread to let me know that they’re started? I will then put an asterix next to your name so I know which people have started. This way I can make sure all 9 of you submit mixes
