Im not too sure as regards to reason but may be able to offer some words on 4/4 garage.

what sorta style are you making?

tuff jam?
mj cole?
todd edwards?
etc

mj uses sound modules to create his sounds for his tracks, theres a great on board one in logic, not heard about one for reason though.

Its all about finding the right VST’s there are some great ones for bass/rhodes/organs

two i reccomend:

SampleTank XL VST & Lounge Lizzard VST

i sample beats from other tracks.

a kick form hear, a snare from there, just effect the samples to make them sound your own!

pitching up kicks and pitching down gated snares/hats gives really chunky 4/4 beats.
