Out of the two you have there, I’d go with the Xponent, simply because it seems to have more knobs and buttons. I actually use a Vestax VCI 100, and I use it with Traktor.
Both controllers you have listed have their native programs, and I honestly don’t like either one of them (Torq or Itch). The Xponent is going to be much easier to work with Ableton, as the VCI 300 might only work with Itch for now (you’ll have to research the details of that).

As far as DJ’n with Ableton goes… Man… There’s not a definitive way to do that, and I don’t DJ with Live (yet), so I can’t say what you would need. And by no definitive way to DJ with Live, I mean it’s not necessarily mixing from Deck A to B, like you do in Torq, Itch, or Traktor.

Look up videos on YouTube of people DJ’n with Live, you’ll probably get some ideas. You can also check out the Ableton.com forum, or Abletonlivedj.com forum.
