I’m new to all this acapella/mashup lark too but i’ve found that matching tempos is quite straight forward using Ableton Lite – I’ve got version 6 so can’t speak for earlier versions. You can drag and drop your mp3/wav etc directly into the song file list and it’ll read the bpm for you – you can then change the speed, trim the file, stretch, normalize etc and export as whatever format you want.
Another good program for just reading bpms is MixMeister – another drag and drop job but i’ve found Ableton is a bit more accurate.
