Here’s some of my thought’s with Abelton so far:
1- Abelton is a great tool for production & jamming live yes.
2- "Mixing in abelton, as in 1 track to 2 or even with 3 takes no "beat matching" or synchronicity skill at all
.
3-If you are using loops and playing keys or a line in -> vox, saxaphone on top , while trigger ing new loops etc, then bravo you are adding skill, but thinking you are a dj by eqing tracks together that are already pre sliced to tempo is fooling yourself. a real dj beat matches on the go – serato , vinyl or cds. period, imo.
4-for those people finding the time stretch a little not so good in Abelton, try "the amazing slow downer" the algorhythm is the best around I have found. get that hip hop tempo accapella closer to the house beat first with it, then bring it into abelton, will sound better.
5-I used to use reason and it was great for creating beats, I ‘ve only really started with abelton for a month or so now production wise, and find it great for loops , but trying a bit for creating drums, I have the trigger finger and can’t seem to get it to trigger the impuse cells. anyone with some ideas? device is set in Midi proper, and works with the battery demo.. (oh yeah and I loaded enigma and set the Abelton default patch to the trigger finger)
6- the sound is much better than reason , but when you render and use a multiplexor in logic for the final master it comes alive even more.
