I think one thing you did well is leave it ‘open’ enough. With a wide ended chorus like that, you have a lot of space to tell stories from different perspectives in the verses.

Here’s some lyrics I’ve made for one of my songs. Right now It’s only the chorus, but the song overall tells about someone not want

I’m not a popstar,
Don’t even need to,
I want to find my way right now.
I’m not a popstar,
I’ll never want to,
I’ll win my place by my own means.
I’m not a popstar,
Won’t think about it,
I’ll never be part of the game.
I’m not a popstar,
Never an idol,
I’ll be true to myself.

Please tell me: How is this? How did I do?

Here’s the first verse.

So it is,
I make hits with my own hands.
Record sales,
They’re no factor anymore.
You can see now there’s much more.
Just get out of the record store.
I will never be their prey.
Talent is just not for sale.

Never stick with the formula.
Try your own, gotta make it good.
Let the words be original.
Love and parties are overused.
Labels won’t matter anymore.
Get a chance in the cyber-world.
Gotta try gotta make your style
Your famous on your own.
