Thanks for the kind words. Erasure are a great inspiration to me, probably my #1 musical influence. And I plan on doing up more Erasure pellas as I get time … these surely won’t be the last!

I really like any kind of acapella (Studio tracks are original so they are out of discussion) and even when we can´t have the original ones is so good to get the DIY versions.
When its about the method, There´s a lot of issues – quality of track used, number of trial/errors, which method was applied, etc…
Anyway, BIG SHOUTS to anyone who invests time and effort to bring us some rare stuff!
Even I posted some here – using the method "Instrumental minus vocal mix" and the results vary from acceptable to great!

I am a very newbie User, i can´t say it Yet!! =)

I think that we should have an acapella contest. We pick a song and whoever can make the best acapella wins something. Like a bunch of downloads or something.

ok, so clearly there are misconceptions out there.

a= instrumental-song 1

b= original-song-1

= great diy by jane

c=instrumental-song-2

d=original-song-2

=terrible diy by jane…..jane is still very good but you can not squeeze orange juice from a rock.

EVERY diy will variably differ from every other diy because of circumstances, sonic dynamics, tools, volumes, skill, timing, quality of files..

the point is

person E, can make an almost studio quality diy in minutes, if the two files they have are great and everything falls into place…

while person E will come up with garbage (no matter how good they are) if the files are hard to work with..or impossible

there are lot’s of tricks… most of it boils down to simplicity of tools(using only one vst…) and your brain to tell you to edit the instrumental to where it lines up, all the time, to the original… (obsessive) but that is what makes a diy…great or useable…

mmm yeah, so this is just in response to those that say "joe is the best" …"no jane is the best at diy"

when in fact the good diy makers come up with essentially the same result.. a great DIY… nothing more nothing less.

if you have cds, promos that are digital and don’t have the timing flutter that vynil has, then it’s a lot less time consuming… and in general comes out GREAT. u can still get great stuff with vynil rips.. BUT the time needed to edit the instrumental in so many places goes up exponentially.

the purpose of my post was to inform the uninformed, it was not to tell people they are wrong, or can not have an opinion.. it was to share my experience with the facts and an opinion here and there.
