The XX

The what?

Not sure if this is any use, but whenever I’ve been tasked with bootlegging this particular band (I’ve done bootlegs for clients a couple of times from The XX tracks), I simply imported the actual song into cubase, cut the lows, and put my own pads / lo pads / synths etc over it. Some of their songs are quite sparse and acoustic-based so it’s about finding a particular passage that’s light on instrumentation / drums.

Another alternative is to see if anyone has done a cover, sometimes (not often enough unfortunately) you can find a mint alternative version sung acapella, although of course as it’s youtube almost everyone is quite amateur with regards to their recording setup so the sound quality can be poor. Keep digging though as there are some gems around! Good luck
