junoParticipantnaturally you have to be open to more than one main type of music to enjoy this ablum. you cant really judge other music if the only thing you listen to is Hip Hop/RnB and the occasional “Pop” song that comes on the radio. Linkin Park is commercial but at the same time very experimental – taking elements from all types of music (rap, rock, metal, breakbeat, electronica) and look at the success it has brought them. I’ve been a Jay Z fan since Reasonable Doubt and I’m so very glad to see that he’s expanding his horizons (sadly its at the end of his music career……or is it?) This album is the product of some very creative minds expanding on the old rock vs. rap idea but I dont see how this album could be a miss with the talent at hand.

DJ TronicParticipanti thought it was cool, but i’ve heard much better projects involving rap/rock being mixed. i thought some of the elements were pretty original, i’d give it a 7/10.

keep it real kidsAdSense 336x280December 8, 2004 at 1:40 pm #567562
TiMGParticipantits ok. exciting concept
the two tracks don’t really create anything more excting than either track is on its own is tho. which is what a good bootleg/mashup should do imoits good that its happened.. maybe it’ll be popular enough to spark more bootleg stylee colaborations
now if only i could get britney and the qosta to meet up and listen to my ‘toxic secret’

MelParticipantOkay…
And believe me, I’m really trying! But I just can’t get a grip on the concept of a Jay-Z / Linkin Park mashup. I heard the first single and was so bored that I had an outer body experience. I get the feeling that this was not a project of creativity, but rather a commercial one because this is where music is heading. A comment aforementioned said it best…
“I’m not a Jigga fan, but duke knows what he’s doing.” Jay-Z knows music, and knows how to capitalize off it. Connecting with a talented group like Linkin Park was his best effort since The Blueprint , in my opinion. The biggest selling genre is Hip Hop, right now. But the fans are getting bored with the same ol’ rap talk and concepts. What better move than to link up with one of the biggest alternative groups this modern age?
