anisinaParticipantIf you don’t know what you’re doing then save your money and pay for somebody else to master your efforts. Mastering is not a case of making something louder. It is so much more than that.
A dedicated mastering program is a must. A bundle of capable mastering plugin’s is also a must. A definitive ear, knowledge, and experience, is an absolute necessity.
DJ Stargazer wrote:Don’t think you can get much better than OzoneOh yes you can.

Well of course you can obviously.
But if you’re doing it yourself then Ozone is the VST to beat.

junoParticipantI use a combo of IK’s T-RackS to EQ, compress, & limit followed by a few of the Waves VSTs according to what needs to be done.
As Anisina said, you must rely on your ear. Bars, meters, lines, graphs – automated things like that will only tell you so much but you have to really be able to hear what the track needs. Ever wonder why a group of talented musicians aka a band would pay to have their tracks mastered?
Izotope makes some of "the best" DAW’s & plugins on the market. Ozone is a very good program from what I’ve heard but I have no experience with it. Keep in mind that no robotic force is going to work magic on your music here in 2009 – but quality does count.
There are no easy answers to mastering like there are presets on an effects processor. Everyone mixes differently.

djdeepParticipantGr8 got lots o replies and i wanna try OZONE .. can u give me the site link … of this product ?

pthParticipanthttp://www.izotope.com/products/audio/ozone/
With mastering the thing i’ve noticed when trying it out is that basically the dynamics can either get it pumping or ruin it. For me at least.
I would seriously considering getting someone else to master it. There are online services that do it for as little as £20.
And for any unreleased track that would do wonders. Plus if you sent it to a label and it ended up getting a proper release they’d have it mastered somewhere proper anyhow.

Heheh my thoughts exactly
Seriously people.. forget DIY mastering. – If we’re talking music to be sold or played in clubs anyway.
If your just doing music as a bit of fun or hobby then its fine i guessAdSense 336x280May 24, 2009 at 8:15 am #668021

May I remind you that this thread is about the best DIY mastering plugin, not professional mastering.Like I said above, of course you can get better mastering than taking it on yourself. That goes without saying.
AdSense 336x280May 24, 2009 at 8:37 pm #668038
M6ParticipantWell still you’d surely do better using s selection of plugins rather than an all in one like Ozone
Waves, Sonox, Universal Audio, Voxengo, Brainworx, TC Electronics and so on
If your doing it yourself thats far better.
btw not to be a cunt or anything.. but you do realise their is an already well established Stargazer with many Hardcore relases.
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Stargazer+(2)
I know him. Although he has moved onto another Artist name these days but it still doesn’t sit well with me seeing someone else working in that same genre and using his name.AdSense 336x280May 25, 2009 at 7:21 am #668069
HiBeats ProductionsParticipantAh I apologise. DJ Stargazer was an alias I was not really using anyway. I’ve been under ‘HiBeats Productions’ since the start of the year.
I’ve since changed my display name here.
About Ozone… I know at least one professional producer that uses it to touch up his mixes; so it’s not a complete waste of time. I do see you’re point about using various different plugins instead, though.

Ya i have started using OZone .. and its pretty Gud .. but it too needs experience and time to get pro …
AdSense 336x280May 26, 2009 at 6:29 am #668108
HiBeats ProductionsParticipantYeah I think good mastering is more about having trained ears and good monitors than having advanced software.
AdSense 336x280May 27, 2009 at 11:30 am #668134
djdeepParticipantya mayn i believ ya … but i wanna know do u use cubase ? coz i was planin to try it out … :d
AdSense 336x280May 28, 2009 at 6:26 am #668166
HiBeats ProductionsParticipantI guess if you want to be a professional mastering engineer you should be using the best equipment you can get your hands on. Ozone probably doesn’t cut it in that regard.
And I use FL Studio, not Cubase.
What I personally like about Ozone is that, although similar results can be achieved with a number of stand-alone plugins, Ozone makes the whole thing less complicated and puts it in one neat little package while still giving reasonable results.
AdSense 336x280May 28, 2009 at 3:47 pm #668185
djdeepParticipantya thts true i see tht … ozone gives not the best i guess but almost same to wat a professional plugin gives .. so thts mo then enuf …
neways keep doin ya thangs !!!!
AdSense 336x280May 29, 2009 at 6:02 am #668198
djbizonParticipant+1 for Ozone
I have also tried T-Racks but I find it not as easy and seamless as Ozone.
AdSense 336x280May 29, 2009 at 12:09 pm #668200
osciParticipantt-racks3 dlx, waves 5.0, tc works native bundle

@ anisina
you’re right but when someone does it just for themselves or for close friends it is easier to use some vstAdSense 336x280June 5, 2009 at 11:55 pm #668423

If it’s for promotion then hand it over to a third party.
AdSense 336x280October 26, 2009 at 5:51 pm #673436
DreamviewParticipantI think about waves or ozone plugins. but not yamaha final master!! it could ruin everything. don’t use it!!
AdSense 336x280November 22, 2009 at 8:28 pm #674318
syrus1ParticipantWhy do you use a VST 2 master?.. use VST’s to produce the sound.. then link them 2 compressors and gaters..then use finilizers
AdSense 336x280December 4, 2009 at 7:56 pm #674732
moasinmoneyParticipantI love t racks but if i use vst i use the same ones i use in pro tools i think its called wave bundles or something like its cool cause u can use them in any program that lets u use vst
