Reggie_p75ParticipantI’m just looking for an opinion on which is the best file sharing/hosting website to post ur work onto other than hosting ur music on this bad n invicible website
(sadly 10mb might only host u 3-5 tracks)I’ve checked out a lot of peoples work on this site and sometimes life is just easier when u have the option to just stream it n enjoy listening it straight away not have to download it to listen.
Is there any website that is heavily recommended or would life be easier if everyone chose just one site to share/host their work (other than their own webspace)?
Thanking u all nice people who make noise down my fibre optic cable

DJ Bobby VParticipantI really like Mediafire….but if you want to preview first then try Z-Share.

EdwardRParticipantAt the moment I’m realy intio a thing called dropbox.
It gives you 2gig of space for free, lets you have public and private folders and links, and even drops a little app onto your computer that has a folder in. Whenever you update a file or remove etc, these changes are mirrored in your online dropbox.
It works for Windows, OSX and Linux.

Another one that I like is Soundcloud. This is more like a social networking site then a pure hosting space. But it’s cool. You can specify public tracks, tracks that can and can’t be d/l.

docshockerParticipantIf you’re hosting to stream for others, why not just myspace or even facebook artist page?

Reggie_p75Participantdocshocker wrote:If you’re hosting to stream for others, why not just myspace or even facebook artist page?I made the tit-arsed mistake of not fully researching MySpace and found that u could only have one domain per email as in I’d already signed up for the ‘People’ section of it, I then saw the ‘Music’ section and tried to get onto that n cancel my ‘People’ account… WITH NO SUCH LUCK!! Thanking ‘Tom’, he of MySpace Fame..
I dont want any of the bum-shite associated with any of these ‘networking’ sites, all the ‘community’ I need is here, with regards to music..
I just need a simple hosting site to host music on that isnt gonna die in 30 days time..
Thanks all..

acheadKeymasterWell I’ve justed started doing this stuff, and I picked 4shared.com, because it was the easiest one to use for DOWNLOADS when I found mashups via ACAS4U to check out other peoples stuff whenever THEY had picked it (4shared, that is).
Other sharing sites (divshare, zshare, megaupload etc) were a pain in the neck with too many ads and 45 second waits for free downloads, and even hard to find players and download buttons!
4 shared has 5gb free (tons for mp3s, yeah?) and its easy to upload. As soon as you upload, you get the link to your new download page so you can post it here there and everywhere… easy easy easy.
Sh*t I sound like an ad.
Hope this info is useful to you, or newbies like me.
Cheers,

[/quote:492wto2a]I totally agree! I’ve been using dropbox since 2 or 3 months ago and it’s really awesome! 2Gb for free but you can also buy some extra space if you need to…and the dropbox taskbar utility keeps updated all your files on the background… I highly recommend it too!

RomanSharkParticipantOh, by the way, I also recommend GOEAR.com where you can upload/listen online your music…I don’t know how many space you have with your account….but I’ve uploaded a lot!!

ulsupplyParticipantlimelinx.com just like zshare but the links dont get screwed up like zshare. also if you use safari it will automatically download tracks from limelinx and not preview them.

FlashardParticipantThe only experience I’ve had with 4Shared.com is that the following msg has just appeared on most of my uploads…
This file is no longer available because of claim by International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.
…and they’ve all been taken down. Looks like the guys at 4Shared.com bend over backwards (or should that be forwards!!) for those facist bastards at the IFPI. I just created a Blogspot and that’s been half removed too (ie. a load of my posts and links have been removed). Fuck!! I wouldn’t mind, but everyone else seems to use Blogspot for linking to their mashups okay – why me?? They were only linked to them, not storaged on the site. Bastards!! Has anyone else experienced this before? …and can anyone recommend a site for uploading / hotlinking to their mashups, and somewhere I can create and maintain a blog or similar without the facists taking it down?? Cheers.

JRomeo21ParticipantSHAREBOMB… no signup… no ‘premium access’ you upload it, spread the link around… files are really never removed if its just music… and you can stream it before choosing whether to download or not…

pablo blueParticipantI use Mediafire myself because there’s no waiting 45 seconds before your ‘download link’ appears, you don’t have to enter any random 4 digit ‘captcha’ codes AND you can download more than one file at a time! The only drawback is that you usually get a pop-up advert.
It doesn’t seem like they delete your files if nobody downloads for a little while either.

I read this 2 days ago and up till then , I had no problems with my blogspot.
Today, all of a sudden, a few posts have mysteriously disappeared without warning or acknowledgement from Blogger/Google.
I am not really good at programming ,so all the work I took to set up this blog,(which was a bit of a headache for me even though it is pretty simple) has been hereby flushed down the toilet with their actions and I am moving to WordPress, I guess.
Does anyone have a better idea?

random1234567890ParticipantI love MediaFire. It’s easy to upload the files and you can share folders as well as individual files. The only problem is that some people can’t use it because it’s a rather rich webpage and… well, it crashes my friend’s computer.
ZShare is pretty good in that it’s easy, but the advertising gets a bit much; it used to be really good but in recent times it has been flooded with pop-ups and dangerous advertising.
Those are the only two that I’ve really used. As I said, I used to use ZShare, but now I just use MediaFire.

acheadKeymasterLike I said near the start of this topic, I picked 4shared but I’m going to have to change because of the same problems Flashard and Track have had. That’s too bad, because I really liked how easy it was to embed the 4Shared player on my blog. I’m looking around for something else with an exportable player but I really want to avoid any takedowns. There’s a dedicated mashup host called "mashupscene.com". It’s very low frills and it’s easy to use, with no ads or waiting, and it has a player for each file on the site. I’m trying to find out if I can embed it…
