acheadKeymasterWhere can i find more instruments for production using Ableton?
AdSense 336x280February 15, 2007 at 6:58 am #613230
acheadKeymasterI found some very good reading on this site -below; great to hear the experiences of others, insprational too! then annoying that I’m so far behind in my use of Live.
Bands and DJ’s chatting about their set-ups, sometimes in extreme detail…
AdSense 336x280February 15, 2007 at 10:24 am #613245
acheadKeymasteri only use live as a production tool for now. serato still dominates my live performance sets, but soon i’d like to find a way to use both.

PooleyParticipantrunning reason through ableton is the mutts nuts, i cant ask for anything more

acheadKeymasterI’ve been playin live with vinyl, live and traktor. (wish deejay booths were a bit bigger tho!!) Would love to get my hands on final scratch to make the possibilities for creativity even greater. Also keeping the vinyl side still going means that if a laptop craps out mid set you can still fall back to the oldskool and nothin beats vinyl for scratching(controversial).

acheadKeymasteri only just got set up on ableton and am loving it already…bit slow to get moving with production thus far but its early days yet. i wouldnt mind using it a live tool for sets but i would rather master it as a production tool first

acheadKeymasterI still can’t work out best ways of cue-ing etc for a set. Does it have to be done live or can you create and store a mix, raher like in ACID? Any helpappreciated

acheadKeymasterhi im quite new to this forum, so hello to all!
i started using ableton live a few moths ago, but mainly just production and editing, not so much djing.
i am finding it useful though

TsebelisParticipantI use Ableton, but mostly for making mashups/remixes.

SychosisParticipantI use Ableton as well as CDJs for DJing. I love Ableton.

infinity2ParticipantVirtual dj is for me the best dj software for live performances. It is very stable, allows for use with cds or turntables via timecode and asio and has the best support forum in the world.
I have heard a lot about ableton for remixes and mashups but I dont think this is for real djs in a live situation.
Bless.

allcenturyParticipanti was using a few synths live but ended up just using two midi controllers now and do software synthesis. i was getting nervous bringing expensive equipment to shady clubs. dunno, been on ableton for sometime now. love it

acheadKeymasterRecently upgraded to Live 6. Excellent tool for mixing, but ableton cache now consuming most of my hard drive. External needed perhaps ..
AdSense 336x280March 5, 2007 at 2:07 pm #615021
acheadKeymasteri’ve had ableton 6 for about 3 months now and use it constantly. dj’ing to begin with, getting the hang of effects etc. now my producing is getting progressively better and better. I use a novation xiosynth as controller/ synth -awesome!!

discodave344ParticipantDon’t use Ableton for dj-ing as can’t find a laptop that will last the distance + people prefer seeing someone do something so cds or vinyl!

walterwallParticipantHello all im brand new to this forum so if anyone has any hints and tips please pass them my way!
As for ableton it is the bomb! i have been djing since the early 90’s and when cd’s first came out i was sceptical but in time i did get to using them as well as vinyl, i now also use ableton live and cd’d but only to compliment my vinyl, at the end of the day vinyl is the root of djing and im a firm beliver in keeping it alive!

I bnought it for production and that’s all I used it for really…I now use Logic Pro 7.2.3 after defecting over to the MAC..But am seriuosly considering dusting off Live, might even upgrade to version 6 and get a laptop and use along side vinyl and CD’s ..anyone else use Live this way……?

krisbahaParticipanthey guys
i am new here, and was just wondering, how you would sync ableton with say a pair of mk3’s? so you could drop loops samples and even acapellas without it being all on cd etc or using external hardware?
thanks!!!! please reply somebody ahahahK
