To tag along on this post – Sometimes weird signal routing works out well. Let’s say you have any old turntable, some interface, and an electronic keyboard/ghettoblaster/etc with stereo input/output. Passing the turntable signal through the keyboard/ghettoblaster/etc before it reaches the interface isn’t typically recommended. If you’re adventurous and lucky, the keyboard/ghettoblaster/etc may colour the record player’s signal. Sometimes this sounds like his, sometimes it sounds "warmer" and sometimes you get mild distortion. None of this is bad or good – and it might even work for your rips.
