I know your onto your second HipHop comp... how about running one in the house section too at some point? I'd be up for that as I', sure would alot of others. :?:

as u know, right now the remix competition(s) are *unofficial* and I'm just kinda throwing them together. I dont think the admins are ready to have a full blown competition.....(yet :wink:

) I would definetly be up for starting an EDM remix competition by about mid-May. I'm gonna take this Summer off from school and concentrate on my music - so......I'll have more time to do stuff like that then.

Im convinced we would run short on moderator power to run all the differant genres compos at the same time. We are running the hiphop comp again and possibly this at the same time now, next time we will pick another two ;)

I didn't mean 2 comps at the same time. I though changing could be good.

Or another thought. Since comp threads take a lot of space in the RnB forum, could you open up another section, which could have it's own couple of moderators and run 2 comps at the time? This way more people could be satisified... I know it's lot of work, but it could work, and i'm sure there are a lot of people who are willing to help? Right?

What do the mods say?

Don't worry, the 1st RnB comp thread was up and down for quite a few times, in different threads even, before the idea was pulled to action.

BUT it doesent mean that this "request" is to be forgotten.
C'mon people, there must be something we can work out, even if we leave this a fantasy for now...
A few more ideas can surely pop up...

Why does it have to Juno who works all the time?

It would probably be more relevant there to be honest.

Go on relaese them, make it a loooong comp so we get some real quality tunage an no-one has to rush too much.

As for Trance and Hardcore, i'm kinda thinking it would make the competition a little tricky to judge becuase there so different from house. But then... I guess it's up to the mods, maybe it will be intresting to do it like that.

Maybe set a tempo range and specify a "house theme" seeing as house has so many child genre.

I was thinking of distributing a sample pack of drums etc so everyone works from the same pella and samples and only creativity ensures your place into the next round........ what does everyone think to this idea, it gives everyone an exactly equal chance if they dont have access to nice synths or sample cd's

Alright plan. But surely reason users cant use synth samples? I think if the drum samples yes but synths no. Synths are soo varried, if you only gave a few sounds everyone tracks would sound the same and there would be no way of being individual or making yours standout. Maybe give a set list of plugins or soundsfonts? Then they can be tweaked eg. Vanguard gives sooo many different sounds that everyones track would be different.

also just a word for those that have drifted over from the Hip Hop competition - this is a true REMIX competition - meaning you have to do some production work. Processed beats from sample CDs and Vinyl might be allowed but I'm strongly against any type of mashup business in this competition.
Go ahead and get it on Caned - I'm about to start up the next H H Comp today

either a house or multi-genre comp is cool with me. the multi-genre thing might be a prob - if some1's not into hardcore or trance and thats the style you do then u might not get as many votes. but when it comes to the real world u have to choose what you think ppl will like anyway.....so I dont know.
