type in soundcard into the keyword search box and hit return – I think you’ll agree that there’s a plethora of exisiting topics on soundcards already.
Hope this helps..[/b]

housefly88ParticipantI use a DIGI001 card and break out box.
Works wonderful and I have had no issues with that hardware.AdSense 336x280March 2, 2005 at 3:31 pm #569281
junoParticipantuhh okay i feel stupid but I just got this old PC from my parent’s house and dont have a clue what kind of soundcard it has. Its probably not that good so my question is: if i bought a different sound card would it greatly improve my recording quality?
Right now I just have RCAs coming from my mixer with a stereo jack converter that i have plugged in to the “Line in”.
I’m not really using any midi at this point mainly b/c my keyboard is a POS. So any suggestions guys?

Ur mixer have symetric out ? (XLR or TRS jack) (which mixer ? – brand name, model and i will see if dont know what is symetric connection). And pls try show me what is the level what u want reach in sound quality!
AdSense 336x280March 4, 2005 at 4:07 pm #569355
junoParticipantI only have RCA (Phono) outputs – no XLR or TRS
Its a Numark DXM-06……i know, i can hear you now fgp303, “the dxm-06 is shit” – but hey, i have to live within my meansI’m not too interested in making mix CDs right now – what I want to do is use my tables to record sounds, loops, and live mash-ups into a software program.
I really just want as much “bang for the buck” when it comes to sound quality if you know what i mean. Something maybe in the $200 range.

[/quote:1b40odgd]Hehe i now say shit but i not really like numark… its one of the standard bedroom mixer i only like the pioneer djm-600 (which good for work but nothin special + dont like the soundquality). If u want record in good quality u can do two think first try buy a soundcard around 200bux and after go truogh teh signal than ur mixer which is not to good i think (i try be maximalist) buy an external RIAA corector (just good not buy toy) liek this:
[url:1b40odgd]http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5755338429&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1[/url:1b40odgd]
i buy one from this at 91usd (usualy price between 50-450usd depending who sell it) its a symetric device but u can use in asymetric mode and choose card for 110bux. (this riaa corrector better than any mixers built in one). later if have more money try pick up a Motu 1224 system from ebay or anywhere.
[url:1b40odgd]http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41784&item=7305997963&rd=1[/url:1b40odgd]
like this if need digital in/outs with analog but i prefer the Motu 1224 its around same price.
or send it to me and i can caprute the vinyl if its really important or maybe not need send the disc cos i have some tousands of 12″ maybe u want same what i have…

deefexParticipantu guys with the 2496, do you use a mixer with it? or not? headphones?
AdSense 336x280March 11, 2005 at 9:37 am #569578
genixParticipanti use the protools mbox for my personal computer and its great, never any problems plus it gives you the pre-amp, the inputs, and the protools le software for not that much more than for a good sound card.
AdSense 336x280March 12, 2005 at 9:46 am #569618
dj pencilParticipanti own an audiophile usb sound card and to be honest i never have had any problems with it

ordioParticipantedirol ua-5 (24 bit / 96 khz) but i’m now looking to get something with firewire. Hopefully.
AdSense 336x280March 13, 2005 at 12:21 am #569639
smart1123ParticipantProtools TDM Mix or HD (If you can afford it) if latency is your issue this is your best chance of solving it also the MOTU firewire interfaces are exceptional, DIGI002 is a very nice box but I’ve heard of latency problems with these also.
Protools also makes a 2 in 2 out budget option called M-Box which is usb and oh so portable.
Also if you use rewire the protools implimentation is super stable.AdSense 336x280March 13, 2005 at 6:27 pm #569664
jforceParticipantany M-audio will do great. as long as its a multi-track card it should work.
