doesnt using the noise reduction damage the acapella...it sounds all funky afterwards lol..i use the phase cancellation method and then use a plugin..it wont damage the acapella that much but it works good..i use another plugin called extra-boy..

Sup guys

I know i'm a little late on this, but i figure'd that i'd put my 2 sense in (not on the biggy and 2pac *rap, but the DIY acapella original post). I tried using the intrumental version of missy's "i'm really hot" and inverting it with cool edit then over lapping it with the actual song. *it didn't go so well*... however, I took her actual song (not the instrumental) and inverted it then overlapped it in acid and it completely canceled everything out (once I got the volume's to match obviously)... Then I tried taking the first few 8-count beats and inverting it, then overlapping them with the actual song, and continuously looping those same beats over and over to math the rest of the song. It canceled the beats out in the section I ripped the beats from, however didn't work for the rest of the song. Seems like unless you have a *perfect* intrumental for the song you're using, then it won't work. But it didn't completely cancel eachother out when I got the parts right!!! Good stuff, but still impossible to use unless all frequencies within the song and the instrumental are perfectly matched to the "T"

OK anybody heard of the vocal zapper from alesis, I bought one and it made me pull my hair out. It's easy to get instumentals here in Vegas, 2 dj's are signed here so it's cake, I just want to be able to "separate" the vocals and I havent been able to. So please talk to me like I'm 5 and explain play by play. Thanks J

tim i'm using a wave pad, once i've inverted the instrumental, how do i mix it in with the original, don't know what i'm doing but it just seems to be pasting the instrumental on the end of the track

The last method, in my opinion is the easiest. The others are quite difficult though.

I guess that you used the 'exact' same recording (including vocals) as opposed to getting the same recording but minus the vocals i.e. Instru***tal. You need the identical Instru***tal mix without vocals to 'mix' over the version with vocals. That way, the vocal should be the only sound remaining.

I hope that answers you're question.
