Do it yourself acapellas or DIY refers to the procedure of manually separating a vocal-only portion of a music track from its instrumental counterpart; also known as vocal extraction. Lots of techniques, advice and help in here for creating that very special D.I.Y acapella. (NO REQUESTS)

Proper terms for 'inverting / flipping' are ...."Reverse Phase, Phase Reverse, Phase Invert". Also it means putting the signal "180 degrees Out Of Phase". Check your menus for similar wording.
Example IF YOU HAVE A TRACK AND IT'S INSTRUMENTAL.....
Be warned.... applying phase reverse to a stereo track may only invert the phase on 1 channel (left or right). This is because most mixing desks/music software have this 'phase reverse' feature to correct common mistakes in audio recording that may mean one channel is (inavertently/accidentaly) out of phase with the other...and thus hitting phase reverse would bring it back in phase.
With a stereo track it's best to make two mono tracks, one with the left, and one with the right of the stereo track. Line then up PERFECTLY, pan the mono tracks left and right as they would have been, and apply phase reverse to both of those mono tracks......this phase reverses both tracks of the instrumental so both tracks left and right will now cancel out the instrumental element when you .......line the track (with vocals) up PERFECTLY with these two mono instrumentals tracks.
This should produce a very clean acapella if they are lined up perfectly....use your zoom to it's maximum.
I've been trying to install knockout, but I don't understand the readme :s I guess I'm just blond, but it says "restart your host application" and I have no idea what that means. Can anyone help me? (Probably no need telling I'm new at this:p)

It means... you have to restart the Program that you are using. This is so it can recognise the knockout.dll in it's list of plug ins.

hey, got a question, how do you perfectly match the inversed instrumental with the vocal mix in the first method? i tried but nothing happened. it was too difficult... if any of you guys know any good and simple method please tell me.... thanks!
hi all i`m new here..but anyone knows about VOCALOID?..try it . Can sing anything u write and changing voice chord . Or use soundforge to get rid the vocal. Anyone khows wat program to slow/fast the song like MIXMASTER. Mixmaster work fine a good program but ..trial ..cannot save song..help pls
Vocaloid has gone to version 2, and has been for a few months. Never used it, but you can't truly imitate human lead vocals. You can get close for backing, but not leads. However, the legendary Mike Oldfield has used it on a few of his tracks.
