Do it yourself acapellas or DIY refers to the procedure of manually separating a vocal-only portion of a music track from its instrumental counterpart; also known as vocal extraction. Lots of techniques, advice and help in here for creating that very special D.I.Y acapella. (NO REQUESTS)
Still difficult to get everything just right though... had to resort to some "drowning out" on a few tracks. Oh well, its going much better than it was! =)
ok so, say for example i wanted to remix the track "basement jaxx-do your thing" and i have the acapella. do i use the method u said to get an intstrumental of the track to use in my remixing????

I think the phase invert method will work perfectly if you have the right audiofiles..
Man you guys are good at this stuff. I recently started playing with these programs and I wanna thank all you guys for your inputs, and I just got on the this site not too long ago and I`ve tested out these approaches and tested some of these theories and although some of them don`t work (kinda) (or maybe Im doing it wrong) I appreciate the info in these forums...thanks you all!

can someone make me an acapella of avril lavigne's girlfriend plz i download audacity for mac but just can't seem to get the original and the instrumental lined up
I've read some post stating how different methods work or don't work.
Different songs will require different methods.....because one method worked great with one song doesn't mean it will work just as well with another.
Different factors ie. stereo image/positioning of the instruments within the track will determin what method works best.
As mentioned before...Method 1 using phase inversion or taking it 180 degrees out of phase tends to work best if you have the original studio released wav's of the track and instrumental. Most MP3 encoding changes all sorts including length and level making it very difficult to line them up perfectly.
