junoParticipant[size size=150:fsb4i4ni]Does anyone else ever think about trying to make new styles of music?
There’s so much to work with in sound and you have to wonder what other music styles are out there that we havent though up yet[/size:fsb4i4ni]

ddoubleParticipanti think all music styles are prety much covered now, any thing different is usually boxed under a mixture of sub genres.
u wll find scenes re-invent themselves creting new styles for the scene
look at drum and bass and the ltj bukem/high contrast stuff.
thats drum and bass that even your dad can listen to.

Blip Hop, Illbient, Ragga – these are subgenres that have come out over the past decade. But what if you take it a step further and make them even more experimental, maybe even combine some of these subgenres to create a new style. When I’m messing around with software I can make some pretty interesting sounds sometimes but its hard to put them into anything that people would want to listen to. I’ve been wanting to experiment with different musical rythms and chords – like how classical Chinese music I think has a different musical system not based on the octaves.
Maybe they’re just pipe dreams but I think it would be awesome to not only have your own sound but your own type of music too.

junoParticipantIron-G wrote:I don’t see how to create a TOTAL new style such as Hip Hop or House, except something eccentric…You got the eccentric part right – some experimental stuff like Klute is like nails on a chalkboard. I dont think its easy to create a new style but I dont think its impossible either.
