Save yourself sometime and headache. DO NOT USE anything you get from this site for distribution of any kind! I you want to go through all of the red tape to get release on a copyright by all means GOOD LUCK!
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUES^^ thats depressing
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESSeriously, there's no point dreaming of releasing anything commercially with copyrighted 'pellas unless you have some serious connections or serious amounts of money. Or unless you track is absolutely smokin' hot, it could be that the artist/label might release it and give you peanuts for the work, which is fine because you get some credibility in return anyway.
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESThis is all good information. I was always curious about this myself. I've always kept my remixes private and not took any chances making copies (except 4 a few close friends) because of copyright issues.
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESreally really helpful thanks!
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESInfo seems to apply to the Law of England only
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESWell that's a bit depressing.
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESDamn. This thread is really informative. I've been MCing and performing for years, but I'm pretty new to djing/producing. It's good to see the other side of the spectrum tho.
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUEShi peeps
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESThey still own the exclusive rights.
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESthis aint a copyright !!!
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESUnless youre track gets really well known the original artist wont even find out if youve used any of theyre material and if you edit it enough and change it enough i think it should be acceptable anyway
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESRegarding US law, here's a few truths just to clarify some things...
When an artist writes a song or makes a recording, that artist automatically retains all of the rights to the song. There is no need to register it with the copyright office but that can be done if you want. That is the law. And that artist retains the right to sell and distribute their song as they see fit. This means that unless you have specific permission (ie. you licensed the acapella from the artist or record label), it is illegal to distribute a song that includes another artists work. That is the law. In practice, many people don't pay attention to this law and distribute songs that include other people's music or vocals (such as unsolicited remixes). It is illegal but it is done. However, it is considered egregious to sell a song with other people's work in it. That is not cool in any way and will most probably draw attention.
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESIs posting a remix on a public forum considered electrical distribution?
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESWhat about Girltalk?
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESI hate copyright laws in America. The only reason they have two copyrights (creative and material, right?) is because the record companies had to give the illusion of giving the artists control over their own music, while still controlling some portion of the recording. It's so lame.
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESthank you for all the information it was very helpfuly
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESgood info here, thank you
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESthanks
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESIn underground dance music you can get away with it no problems, as long as what your using isnt super obvious of course. The older and more obscure the pella, the better.
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESNone of my Youtube mashups are available for monitisation due to copyright
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESI got the same problem thats why i upload them to my site
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESYep, SoundClick got on to me and made me remove my RMX. It just used one Nikki Minaj acca I downloaded from here. I think it was kind of hypocritical when they got DJ mix sets using multiple songs, including people using copyrighted images of artists. (Man, copyright BS).
So, other than uploading the track to lets say idk, Piratebay or something, where else can I release the track. I like Sound Click (not that I benefit by it), and I like this site to (where I get acca's from). So, what do we do, I mean, we can download acca's and other stuff that is obviously copyrighted (which we can't use on the main social networking sites), so, are we left with mixes that we can't use? This site here http://www.acapellas4u.co.uk is by far one of the coolest site that I like, but, how does it get by on I guess illegal good and practices, when people like me (an aspiring artist) can't use the acca's we get. I have had no probs with one shots or DJ tools, but yea. Can I upload this mix here since I can't use it anywhere else?
Re: COPYRIGHT ISSUESHmm.. link seems to have changed.
